I often go through CL for new and fresh SPs. In fact, I go through that site at least 3 times per day (sometimes more). I generally go for "newer" SP, preferrably non-pros (that just my own taste).

I'm wondering how other people decide which one are genuine. I also never respond to a posting I see for the first time, I wait for the SP to post a second or third time (legit SPs normally post more than once)

Usually, I'm suspicious if and avoid if:

- no pix and if the offer is too good to be true
- there is a pix, but looks too professionally done, not likely to be the person you'll see
- poorly written, convoluted posts - says something about the SP
- Contradictions written within the post itself
- Posts with same contact number, but with different name next time it's posted

What posts turn you away or make you suspicious?

I lean toward the women who have had their own web site for a few years. It narrows the field a bit I suppose.

This has been my criteria... I found Craigslist to be... worrying. I do see lots of cross-posting. I find that most posts on CL from Burnaby are fake, misleading or shady. The garbled posts advertising most asian services just make me think I'd be supporting child trafficking.

Most of the legit posts are women who have posted there for a while, so yeah, I really agree with you when you say use caution and wait it out before jumping in.
