Lost-in-Japan: Perhaps you could supply references to your allegations (as if they are incontrovertible facts).

As to American colonies, what nation, much less empire, doesn't acquire lands. In the case of the USA, Hawaii is a state, no? That is, a former colony became equal to all other states. I think the problem here, for you, is the need to follow a particular (anti-U.S.) line and fill in the details as they come along. Many on this site, less intelligent than you and pretty much more vocal, are quite predictable along these (faux liberal) lines. This is an acceptable means of the art of propaganda, in your case, but is also a poor use of scholarship and it also suggests the fraying of your own cognitive network.

That’s very sad Wilde.
I had thought you intelligent enough to understand and refrain from being a part of a vicious cycle of hatred.
If you are lucky you'll be able to see China invade or nuke Japan, as well as Vietnam, Cambodia, Philippines, etc...
And anyone else that thinks they have a claim on resources closer to themselves than to China.
Much like the Americans bombing villages built on top of all their God given oil he mistakenly buried in the Middle East.
Just sad dude.

No hate for the Americans and Europeans that started the game in the first place?
I also have no time or patience for the Western Japanese apologist. You know how I feel on this topic and lets leave it at that.

Wow who pissed you off in another life! Your such a right fighter.
What I was trying convey in my first post is that 'Modern' Christians don't advocate murder!!! Period
Comparing Taliban to Christians in my opinion is ludicrous. Just my point of view. Maybe I stated some things wrong that are printed in the bible but you like so many others just take excerpts from the bible to skew there own point.
I guess when we die we will find out who was right. I sure hope it's me!!!!
I am not sure who pissed me off in another life, as that was another life and I cannot remember it.

As for the bible, christians tend to skew parts of it much worse than I ever have. I was just highlighting passages that you had said weren't in the bible. I merely found them for you. As for modern christians not advocating murder??? Have you never heard of the westboro baptist church? They advocate murder all the time! They are as fundamentalist in their interpretation of the bible as the Taliban is with their interpretation of the koran! Then there are the "pro-life" groups in the US that bomb abortion clinics as part of their christian beliefs. Yes, christians aren't nearly as murderous now as they once were, but there have been millions of deaths under the name of the christian god!

Zeus almighty guys and gals. Lets all calm down. There's quite a bit of blind (and incorrect) hate being spread.

Fun fact: When I quickly googled train derailing .gif, this was like the second image that appeared.

Have you thought about going there for vacation? Some of these places?
I do not travel well. So I do not think it will happen. If it does I would do the trip in steps to adjust to the time change.

I have heard many stories and seen many pictures. Listened to lots of Arab music (mostly love songs , iirc) and my memories of our time together learning about their culture is very heart warming. My first ex was from Iraq, he of course had some incredible stories. I was with him when they captured Saddam and I will never forget him, he was so shocked and surprised because Saddam had all this immense power for so long, to see him captured, I think if I was not there he would have cried. He remembers Saddam coming through his town as a child.

I think I would go to Morocco and Maybe Turkey. Of course with Dubai the big luxury destination it is I would not turn down a trip there, but to afford my own, probably unlikely!!!!!

edit: that's one fine train derailing gif you got there rintin

I knew you were not Japan’s biggest fan, but had no idea you actually “Hated” Japanese until now. I didn’t see that coming Wilde, it’s unfortunate.

I am not an apologist for anyone.
I just like to remind people that there are indeed 2 sides to every coin.
Something you seem to ignore in only hating Japanese for doing what the Europeans and Americans were doing long before Japan. In fact, they we doing the same thing to Japan until it modernized and then joined in.

Anyway Wilde, I honestly have nothing against you and will leave you alone to your hate of Japanese.
I have toured the Pearl harbour memorial a few times in hawaii. When I first toured it, it was VERY anti-japanese. Almost sickenly so. The last time I went through though, the US had actually softened the portrayal of the Japanese, and showed why they did what they did and gave the people who tour through there a more accurate picture of what happened to start WW2 in the pacific and why. I find it funny that the US can now show the full story and let people see what happened, yet there are still anti-japanese opinions here in Canada!

Let's just say I have family members who were deeply affected by the Japanese invasion and I will never forget the stories they told. Yes, the Europeans and Americans were pillaging China long before the Japanese but at least they didn't try to exterminate an entire city and then not have the fucking balls to admit it.

Hate is a strong word. This is actually closer to how I really feel - I find the dropping of the atomic bombs sad as a human being but as a person of Chinese descent I find it extremely difficult to muster an iota of sympathies for them.

What would you call the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki then? Seemed like the US tried to exterminate two whole cities there! (Not saying the Japanese atrocities were forgivable either!)

I don't think one can compare the the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki to the Nanking massacre but if you insist. Plus you left out the part where I said there are fractions out there who are still trying to deny it ever happened. I don't think the US ever denied the bombings took place, do you?

You must have edited after I quoted, as I never took anything off the end of that sentence, only the start... (I wouldn't have taken that part out for sure!)

EDIT: Frikken job always gets in the way and delays posts and I can now see your edit Wilde.
Only some right wingers deny anything, just like some Iranians and KKK fuckups deny the Holocaust.
I think I understand more now with your example about finding it hard to find sympathy, thanks for the update.
I get what you are saying about continuing the cycle. I am against blind hatred, following and patriotism as much as the next rational guy. I cringe every time the chant of "USA, USA" breakout at an international sporting event. I am there to watch the talent on display and couldn't care less if he was from the USA or Zimbabwe. Perhaps one day I will forgive but I will never forget.

kudos to both Wilde and Lost in Japan for expressing different views in adult, reasonable non-hateful means and remaining above the slanging&name-calling that too often goes on here.

Good sir, I strongly suggest you pick up a history book and read about Asian history if you think the Americans and Europeans started "the game" in the first place. Asian empires were just as ruthless before America existed and Europe was in a dark age.
The Mongol empire comes to mind.

The "game" probably started in the caveman era. You know, the strong take from the weak until the weak banded together.....

Reminds me of one of the most important themes found amongst the ancient Greek playwrights: Families (clans) feud and each successive generation must wipe the slate in an act of violence as a matter of honour. It's utterly incredible how they knew, understood and could express so much as to what was vital amongst the human enterprises then and is still current. Dispute, violence, hatred, revenge. The ongoing saga of the Hatfields and McCoys in Appalachia is a modern illustration.

Kinda like Hammurabi's Code "To bring about the rule of righteousness in the land so that the strong shall not harm the weak"
