some people just sue - it's what they do

they think it's like beating their chest, or 'getting even' like in the schoolyard

they have no real appreciation of the rule of law, and how that affects their ability to win a suit

sometimes it's informative to listen to children arguing. when somebody finally ends up with their back against a verbal wall, they often say, 'oh yeah... well i'll sue you!' thinking that the threat will make the opposition melt away in fear. it comes from watching too much american television programming

you'd think ghomeshi would know better

Check your closet..:)
Most lawyers said his suit was garbage and would not go anywhere because he is bound by his union's bargaining agreement and has to go through them
You nailed it..:)

Former radio host Jian Ghomeshi has agreed to withdraw a $55-million lawsuit against the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation in the public broadcaster’s favour, and to address his October dismissal from the corporation through a union grievance.

“The civil suit has been dismissed with costs in favour of the CBC,” Chuck Thompson, head of public affairs for the CBC, said in an interview.

The CBC will be awarded $18,000 in costs, although the suit’s dismissal must still be formalized with a court order. Mr. Ghomeshi does not receive any money through the agreement he has reached with the CBC, Mr. Thompson said.

Mr. Ghomeshi filed the lawsuit a day after he was fired from the CBC on Oct. 26, claiming breach of confidence and defamation and asking for punitive damages. The CBC then argued in court filings earlier this month that Mr. Ghomeshi’s allegations were frivolous or vexatious, and urged a court to dismiss the suit.

The agreement still needs to be formalized through a court – a step Mr. Thompson said is expected in the near future.

According to the CBC, Mr. Ghomeshi will now contest his dismissal through a grievance for reinstatement already filed with the help of the union that represents him, the Canadian Media Guild.

A lawyer representing Mr. Ghomeshi, Jonathan Lisus, confirmed the lawsuit “has been resolved” and that “Mr. Ghomeshi will address all issues in the lawsuit in binding arbitration in accordance with the collective agreement between them.”

The CBC fired Mr. Ghomeshi three days after lawyers representing the well-known radio host showed two CBC executives video, photographs, text messages and e-mails in which he is seen causing physical “injury” to a woman, according to the CBC’s senior leadership.

Since then, at least nine women have made allegations of sexual abuse or harassment against the former host. The CBC has launched a third-party investigation and Toronto Police are in the midst of their own probe after three women contacted them with complaints of sexual assault.

In a 1,586-word statement posted to his Facebook page – and since removed – Mr. Ghomeshi said he has engaged in “rough sex,” but that, “Everything I have done has been consensual.”

It's only consensual until one decides it isn't after the fact. Then it's up to the other to prove that it was.

Ghomeshi arrested, charged with sexual assault
The former CBC radio host surrendered to police

The Canadian Press and News1130 Staff November 26, 2014 8:42 am

TORONTO (NEWS1130) - Ex-CBC radio host Jian Ghomeshi has been charged with five criminal offences, including four counts of sexual assault, Toronto police say.

Ghomeshi, who also faces one count of overcome resistance choking, surrendered to police in Toronto on Wednesday morning and he’s scheduled to appear in a Toronto courtroom in the afternoon.

His lawyer Marie Henein wasn’t immediately available for comment.

The head of CBC media relations, Chuck Thompson, said, “We don’t comment on police matters, criminal investigations or anything before the courts.”

The arrest comes a day after the former Q host dropped a $55-million lawsuit against the CBC, alleging defamation and breach of confidence in his statement of claim.

The broadcaster fired him in October after seeing “graphic evidence” that he had physically injured a woman.

Since his dismissal, nine women and one man have come forward with allegations, some dating back a decade, that Ghomeshi sexually or physically assaulted them, and police are investigating complaints by at least three of them.

CityNews has reached out to two of his alleged victims, author and lawyer Reva Seth and former Trailer Park Boysactress Lucy DeCoutere. Neither was immediately available for comment.

Ghomeshi, 47, admitted in a lengthy Facebook post published on Oct. 26, the day he was fired, that he engaged in “rough sex,” but insisted his encounters with women were consensual.

In a follow-up post a few days later, he said he would meet the flurry of allegations against him “directly,” but has not made any public statements since. The Facebook posts have since been deleted.

All of this would never have happened if Ghomeshi didn't post the big rant on his Facebook status. He could've just let this whole thing die quietly and found employment elsewhere or started his own online radio show. It wouldn't have been the first time a popular radio or TV host got the boot. Given the nature of the business, people get fired all the time for unknown reasons. But his big ass ego got in the way and he felt "compelled" to clear his name. This is how most sociopaths and criminals get caught. They end up bragging about their deeds or somehow want to clear the air about how things went down.

remember back when most of the irish republican army terrorists ended up in prison? this is how the british SAS brought them down - they relied on their egos to do it for them. apparently, after setting off a mailbox bomb and killing a bunch of school kids, for example, the successful terrorist just HAS to go to the pub and BRAG about it! the SAS put a 'listener' in every pub, and before long had enough information to bring the lot of them down

hell, you only have to be a member of perb to know how well that works :D

I think she slapped the smug off his face before he could even think about doing it.

I would pay to watch them slap the smug off each other's faces...and then, he, slather her face...he's a useless pr**k, and she's a fatuous c**t...
