He said downtown autospa. Do you even read the posts? Or do you think the more posts you have is a contest.

Fucken BMW brake dust!

What do you guys use to remove/prevent all that BMW brakedust!. Having to remove that shit always makes me procrastinate washing the car. Fucken back-breaking, finger numbing work I fully dread.

Try:
http://www.downtownautospa.com/
and for the products:
http://www.zainostore.com/

If you get them from Downtown auto spa, they have a package that includes the exterior Zaino system as well as a package for the Zaino system and leather/interior products (from Zaino). I picked up the former since I don't like their leather cleaning system, kinda smells...but for leather, Lexol leather cleaners and conditioners work best.

I've heard some very good things about the clear bra package and I did consider it for a road trip but that didn't pan out. Here's some info...someone acutally fired a pellet gun at a car with the bra on:
http://www.automotivearticles.com/Clear_Bra_3M.shtml
This in the article might help you decide:
"However on darker cars the film is not optically clear, so depending on lighting the areas covered by the clear bra seem to have a different color. 90% of the time it is nearly impossible to see the clear bra on the car, but given the right lighting most people can see the seams"

Looks pretty cool to me.

GBM,

I got the 3M clear bra on my new machine and IMO it was well worth it. It's already saved a bunch of nics in the front bumper and mirrors. Unless there is a bunch of dust, etc on the hood, you can't really see any seam unless you go up close and look. If your car is new, or in really great body shape I 'd definitely do it.
Don't go through your dealer though; they'll take you to the cleaners $$$.
I paid $675 CDN for the following: hood, front bumper, side mirrors, door handles and the top of the rear bumper just underneath the trunk lip. I went directly to the 3rd party guy who does the work for the dealer and saved 40-50%. I plan to get the bottom of the panels done and the areas around the wheel wells. The kit is in the process of being made.
You may know this already but you can check out some info on 3M at:

I held off on my appointment now that my projector46's are coming. Gonna wait for those first, get them installed and then do the Autospa thing.... but as for the 3M, I'm not sure cuz I don't know if I can afford it anymore (the projectors cost be $1k). From what you say, I'd sure like to have it cuz I wanna protect that beautiful skin.

Yeah, I hear ya. There is only so much $$ to throw around. I got the 3M bra a couple of days after I bought the car and am glad I did. I took it Winnipeg a couple of weeks later and you could see on the mirrors where the stones were hitting. A couple put VERY SMALL rips in the 3M protection but the paint is still good. I had an 18" kit on the hood. As luck would have it, I still got a very minute stone chip 2" above that! Should have gone with the 24" kit :(
It is also great to have on when you need to clean bugs & stuff off the front bumper. Usually with soap & water it comes off really easy.
Let me know how the Zaino works out for you.

Ok I have to admit that I havent read what this thread is really about, but the title did spark a little thing in me that needs to inform everyone to avoid Dynasty Auto Detailing. They are bad...I took my Jaguar in to them to get some slight scratches out. When I returned to pick my car up the next day, it was vacuumed. That's it. There were still water stains on it from where I didnt dry after washing it the day before. The windows were still smeary, and, needless to say, the scratches were still there. The rims were still dirty, and when I started to clean them myself, they were like, "ok how about we keep it another day?" and in that day they buffed the hell out of it...and scratched the fuck out of it! It came back in worse condition than I left it...not impressed!!

Me sharing my story...the end!

After reading all these posts about shine this ,polish that, little rock chips. I wonder if any of you have ever slammed a car down a back road , four wheel drifting into a turn with gravel flying everywhere, hitting mud and flooring it till the engine screams to get out of a hole, hitting bumps where all four wheels are off the ground. Fuk what a dull life you must all have. Well I guess the most excitement you must have is bragging to people how fast you went on the freeway without putting a mark on your jag ,bmw mercedes, lexsus. DULL DULL DULL. Have I pissed enough people off yet ?

...that would be the perfect vehicle to match his personality.

Title of the thread is about car detailing not racing. I guess that was too much to comprehend.

Who said anything about racing, its about not worrying if you get a speck of mud or dirt on your vehicle, hence being on a thread about detailing, sorry that was over your head and yes I drive a truck but not a garbage truck. Do you think everyone spit shines their vehicles. At least when I do mine I do it myself, instead of whining about how much I spent or where can I get someone to do it for me. But then you might be late for your nail appointment. Fuk get a little mud on the tires and on yourself. And you may be surprised not everyone on the board is a repressed anal type.

I gotta say that I agree with this to a point. My vehicle has always been a notch above my current lay on the importance scale. There is a certain satisfaction in cleaning and detailing your own ride. All that elbow grease, rubbing, buffing, humping, and then when yer all done, that moment when you stand back and stare at your work and yer wheels look all showroom and shit. No better feeling. And it always seems to ride a bit smoother right after.
I've never really understood the dude that takes his car to a shop to have some other guy clean it. WTF is that?! It's like takin' yer grrl over to yer buddies so he can have a couple of rounds with her.

Nobody here whined about having someone else clean their car. And even if anyone did, why the hell do you care?

Frankly, I don't care if you drive a moped, Hurst, or dump truck... I don't care in the least. I don't care if you like to wash your car yourself. I don't care if you like to go off-roading. I don't care if you enjoy yourself or not. There was no need to insult us, who have a similar mindset with respect to our cherished vehicles. You go ahead and drive your filthy piece of shit into the ground, and I hope you enjoy it cuz I'm never gonna cry and whine about what others do for enjoyment, like you do at us.

I wash/detail my own vehicle...did you hear me say anything about how much I spent getting someone else to do it? Nope. Who said I worry about getting any dirt on my car? No one. Maybe next time you can open your eyes and that little speck of grey matter called a brain and try to read the posts intelligently. And if you don't like what someone says either be civil about or keep your mouth/keyboard shut and move on 'lil man.
