yes indeed, Calgary is definitely gone after the first round...

Canucks might make it to the second round, all depends on Luongo...

watching these two teams vie for the division crown has been laughable to say the least...

just as an aside, Kelly Hrudey is an absolute moron...

Division title? So what it means nothing now.
Try walking into a bar with a Flames jersey...
Or checking Flames forums or the Canucks forum.
Or talking to my co-workers on Tuesday.

But meaningful hockey-wise? Home-ice is definitely important.

Look at us.
Home: 26-10-4 Away: 19-20-2
And Chicago.
Home: 23-9-8 Away: 22-15-4
Motherfu**.

First, we didn't want to play Chicago without home-ice. Though for you guys, it might not have mattered statistically.
Second, we didn't want to play anybody without home-ice.
Third, you will avoid playing your kryptonite (SJ) for as long as possible.

That all being said, we can still have a great playoff run if we play as good as we look on the roster sheet. Go Flames!

Honestly, I love it when we have to fight with the canucks up until the last game for the title season after season.

Even during our end of season spiral, the standings made each game that much more exciting.

Probably the only thing laughable is us though. I mean we went from the highs of acquiring Jokinen (though by having a prospect sellout) and becoming THE TEAM TO BEAT to the lowest of....well just about everything. AND to top it off, the ugly bastard with no pants who phoned Steve Mason.

The only way it could have been worse is if additionally, we were celebrating our centennial year and Phaneuf was connected with the KKK.
Honestly, the surge of Kesler and Burrows during the last weeks really bums me out. haha. totally honest. if suddenly Sundin starts scoring, frick.

The Flames lost it.
Sixth division title in 39 years. Don't plan the parade route just yet. They haven't gone past the second round since 94.
It is still laughable at the name Northwest considering St Paul shares the same time zone with Kenora, Ont. and Colorado is just above New Mexico.

It looks like we will play either Columbus or St. Louis. Both teams will be tough but I think I'd rather see us play the Blue Jackets. St. Louis has our number for some reason and they have a decent team with a good coach. But there are no easy teams except maybe Calgary right now.

It wouldn't surprise me if the Canucks actually lost a series to St. Louis...but I am pretty certain the Blue Jackets can be taken.

St. Louis has been on fire since the all star break, much like the Canucks and they have some very very good young players!

It looks like we will be playing St. Louis.... 18 minutes to go in their final game.

St. Louis has momentum and an incredibly zealous fan base as of late. Yikes.

Anaheim and St. Louis are the two teams I think the nucks would rather avoid. Blues are hot, have a great goaltender and have some good young players on both ends of the ice. Andy Murray prepares his team very well

The Canucks seem best prepared when they're playing against a tough opponent. Loungo especially seems to rise to the occassion on the more important games.

Should be a good series.

Agreed totally, TSN's Pierre Macquire is the biggest nob in NHL.
I have to shut the sound off when he is doing his loud , aggressive (nobody knows hockey except pierre) commentary
Good point, He thinks he knows hockey-NBC thinks he knows hockey-but he knows nothing-well in retrospect-put that idiot on NBC to try and explain hockey to americans!!! Oh yeah-they already did!!!

Don't count out the Blues. They were at the bottom of the conference at the trade deadline and won about 24 games since.

Their offence is just as good or maybe a bit better than the nucks. Nucks have the edge in defence and in goal. But the nucks need to match the blues work ethic. All four games we played against the blues this season, we were outworked.
