I'm with ya. Only, if Trump is willing to cut off funding of any elementary school in the US that defies his will, you know sanctions are in our future. It's the only move he seems to know. (I've never read Art of the Deal. Was it a pamphlet?)

And you know that will be fuel for yet another economy vs. safety throwdown between our Conservatives and Liberals.

Edit to add: though you'd think in a grown-up world, it's be every nation working together to defeat this thing. The good news is that's probably true amongst the scientists.
Same here,
Good point you make clu, and the only reason it works between scientists is because they don't use politics
to add 2+2=4
tRUMP's rendition would be 2+2= whatever I tell you it will be.
The throwdown you speak of between Conservatives and Liberals may yet come to a head
as with our reopening even though we are doing it slower than south of us it still doesn't
mean the virus won't start spreading once again even here. It will be interesting indeed as IMO
no matter what you do it's going to be a "need" for a vaccine. Without that we will have to
wear makes and social distance 'till the cows come home. Period.

I think art of the deal was one of those novelty rolls of toilet paper you could get
at a joke shop years ago.

Ever been out with a buddy who's plastered out of his mind and you just want to get him (and yourself) home safe and call it a night, but he gets angry at you because you won't have another round of shots with him?

I'm getting the same feeling reading this article:

https://globalnews.ca/news/7160749/canada-us-border-push/
The US wants our border reopened now, and apparently we're not being good friends by showing our reluctance.
Soooo, their lawmakers are pushing for that eh amid the pandemic so being called
"out of control" now in florida.
Yeah well, it's time to put the shoe on the other foot for our govt to step in and say:
If we are that important to you, prove it!!!!
Give us a call when ur ready, we'll be waiting.

I am weary of opening schools for children, mostly because the anklebiters usually pass colds around on contact and take it home to mommy and daddy and the other siblings. How the fuck can you open schools to that kind of exposure, when you don't have a flu shot for Covid 19. Not logical.
As for American travelling to Alaska by car by way of Vancouver Island (Victoria); they should stay the fuck home.... Asystematic Assholes.....

As for people with out of province plates; Put a date on your back window when you came into BC. Say you Isolated for 14 days. Then the police can fine those guys for living in BC for over 3months without changing over their license plates and drivers licences.... Lifes a Bitch....

I hear Betsy the "education Czar" in the states has said that opening schools will be no big deal when it comes to negatively impacting children. She figures that, at worst, only 0.01% of children could die - which apparently works out to something like 15,000 kids/young adults in the US. No biggie? Fuck...
Not to mention there will be plenty with permanent disabilities that didn't die. It's weird how the permanent damage in many survivors never gets much press.

COVID is so new that no long term studies (>1 yr or >3 yrs) are available. There's some ongoing South Korean and Spanish studies. Some people still struggle with weird issues, post recovery.

As of July 22, where can a Canadian and an American legally meet? I know about Peace Arch Park, but the Canadian would have to self-quarantine for 14 days back in Canada.

Are there legal but less crowded locations East of Vancouver?

I went out to see my sister in Abbotsford and we cruised back via Zero Avenue and east of the Aldergrove crossing there is literally two streets, separated by a ditch, one is zero ave and the American one I don't know but there were Canadians and Americans with lawn chairs set up on either side of the ditch chatting away. The RCMP and the US border patrol were watching the proceedings but the people said they're fine with it as long as nobody crosses that ditch.....

Covid would not be so bad if we all just followed the Commander In Chief because he is a genius and knows more about everything than all the scientists in the world.

If only his followers continued to drink Fish Aquarium Cleaner chloroquine https://www.cnbc.com/2020/04/24/fda...ter-serious-poisoning-and-death-reported.html or injected Disinfectant into their bloodstreams the borders would have been open weeks ago.

Every fool that loves the guy would be dead by now.

Regrettably the only advice that his supporters have followed completely from the beginning was to bend over and take his Ultra Violent (not violet) truth probes up their asses. As he keeps stating over and over again. Covid will disappear on its own. In the meanwhile he uses american tax payers dollars to purchase up anything the looks like a cure to lock the rest of the world out.

I hope the borders stay closed for a couple of years!

BC with 268 dead and 2756 confirmed positive giv3 a 6.1% fatality rate. Methinks lotsa folks have caught it and gotten over it. once that ten-cent antibody test becomes available, MAYBE we will have a more accurate mortality rate.
I don't get why no one from the downtown eastside hasn't died from anything except overdose. The poorest postal code in Canada that never wears masks or respects social distancing and are always in each other's face, what happened to the prediction of their demise?
The most likely reason, is one public health officials worldwide have been trying to drum into our heads. STAY APART. the virus cannot move itself. It needs unwise travel!!! The DTES has very, very few visitors from outside. Hence they are not being infected.

Interesting! The Peace Arch Park also has Zero Street and "a ditch." It's likely crowded at the Peace Arch. The Aldergrove Crossing location is likely less crowded.
I do believe that the Canadian has to quarantine for 14 days, if they go into Peace Arch Park. I wonder if Canadians can legally bypass that rule, at this "farther East" location.
Americans don't have to quarantine, back in America, if they go to Peace Arch Park.

REI,
TJM
Yeah along Zero Avenue east of the Aldergrove crossing, there is the ditch signifying the border and you can't touch each other. The ditch is the appropriate social distance apart. You can set up lawn chairs and visit across the ditch from each other. The Peace Arch Park is across the line so you'd have to isolate for 14 days.

I don’t believe one is required to self quarantine after a visit to Peace Arch Park. There’s a more recent article that mentions those who breach social distance guidelines with others in the park are supposed to quarantine though

https://www.peacearchnews.com/news/...zens-to-continue-to-meet-at-peace-arch-park/#

«Technically, immigration lawyer Len Saunders told Peace Arch News, if you cross the ditch to enter the park, you aren’t entering the U.S. »

To be honest, I don't care a bit about how this ends. I am on a business trip to Toronto now. Thank God I had the wisdom to spend a lot of time right away choosing the right apartment. I live alone and honestly enjoy the situation. My children are already adults and they only need to call me via video link a couple of times a month. My relationship with my wife has come to a logical end, so I am considering the real possibility of finally moving here. As for the restrictions, they will end one way or another this winter.
