Global TV news was saying this morning Burrows will probably be fined for criticizing a referee.
It's tough fighting city hall.

Amazingly I haven't bashed Burrows yet lol. But if you listen to the hockey experts today on 1040, TSN, etc whether or not the red threatened Burrows, he had a warning! Look at the way he plays, or diving :) he gets what's coming to him, throughout the league Birrows has no respect. He obviously feels like a fool for being in the box when the winning goal was scored. Think if the nucks won last nite, would burrows blab what was said? He had all game to behave. Guess diving just is so irresistible!

When you hear ex-NHLers like Kelly Hrudy, etc say that stuff ought stay on the ice, you just can't question the refereeing--only for crybabies like some Nucks fans. It's only here that we're making a stink, it's hilarious: guess it does sell papers.

Big deal about bad officiating. Let's see who here can ref a game going on faster than armchair GM's watching on tvs
, keeping eye on the puck & trying to determine if Burrows, Ruutu's, etc are diving....remember we get the luxury of video replay.

As far as I'm concerned, these players know better not to criticize the officials, wealthy professional players who think they're bigger than they are

I watched this game last night and was really scratching my head over the calls, particularly in the 3rd period. I watched Saturday's game too, where pretty much anything went.

This really sounds like a mess.

(Please don't turn this thread into fan-bashing, Sedin-bashin, Luongo-bashing. You know who you are.)

The real issue is whether Burrows is telling the truth, or lying...if he is telling the truth, and the referee did say that to him and if he had a witness, then the referee should be suspended. Of course if the reverse is true, Burrows should be suspended. This is a serious accusation.

I doubt that anyone would have overheard anything said between the two. What seems to be the smoking gun, is Auger going and talking to Burrows in the pre-game warm up. Not normal procedure, in particular since Burrows is not any kind of captain.

I guess you watched the same Squire Barnes piece on the noon news as I did.

He also went on to say Auger has a past history of saying things about players that he later gets reprimanded for.

You are way off. Someone sucked the brains outta your head! j/k
Hrudy was towin the company line, simple. There has been other refs come out and basically acknowledge this as BS from Auger. Separate the issues here, you hate Burrows, thats fine. But calls should not carry over from game to game.

I guess we will see what the outcome is, but my money says Burrows gets a hand slap, auger gets way more.

Hockey fans are far too sensative when dealing with their home team. I didn't realise Burrows was held in such low regard by officials and other players around the leugue. Between whining, faking penalties/idiving and yapping, he isn't well liked. Who knew?

Beverly Hills. In the Kitchen eatin' vittles.
There are 2 issues here.
1) Did Auger or did he not, say thost things to Burrows and then follow through? We'll never know what was really said. I will admit that the penalties called against Burrows were questionable at best but you see questionable calls in every game. The NHL is a league that has always had a double standard for penalties. We all knoiw there are things that the so called stars get away with but a tough guy or grinder never would. Do refs pick on certain teams or players. Absolutely. When I played college football for U of Sask., there were a couple of officiating crews who didn't like our coach. We knew going in that we'd get twice as many calls against us. As a DB I couldn't come near one of the other teams receivers without drawing a flag.
2) The bigger issue here is when it happens, do you as a a player whine publically about it? Absolutely NOT! Everyone gets calls agains them they don't agree with, just like the prisons are full of innocent people. You forget about it and move on to the next game. If there is any complaining to do you leave that to the coach and management but as a player you do not.
