Booking via phone

By phone - are you including text messages? They can be quite convenient.
Email/Perb Messages can be very convenient for the client however the SP must be really diligent about checking for these types of messages and many are not so diligent or just don't have the convenience of a blackberry...
As someone who has been around the hobby for many years the phone is still the best way and for me I found text messages to be more discreet as I could send/answer them just about anytime/anywhere without raising suspicion.

That said I also do like the option of phone for a spur of the moment desire.

Phone is a must for spontaneity, however as an indy you would need phone help - none of your clients would want you taking bookings during their time with you!
When I am in Victoria I don't have good contol over my hobby timing so I rely on an agency incall and appointments arranged by phone about 2 hours in advance.
Other places, where I have control of my schedule, and a hotel room, I prefer to make arrangements by e-mail several days or even a couple of weeks in advance. If I could always control my schedule I would prefer to arrange appointments by e-mail at least a couple of days in advance.

Rest assured that if I decide to take bookings via phone, that I won't be booking calls while I am entertaining a guest.
The only problem I encountered before was people not following my posted hours to contact me. I think it was 11am~7pm, but I'd get people calling at all hours of the night.
As for txt messages, that would be OK, as long as I have seen the person before.

Silly People Cant Tell Time!
Bye the way I must say that I booked with Audrey recently (my review is posted) and she was very prompt and curteous with the response and booking procedure which made a huge difference.

I hear you on that darlin. I would think a possible solution to that would be a inexpensive pay as you go cell and turn it off during certain hour with a nice message stating, "sorry you have reached me outside of my posted hours of contact. Please leave a message and I will return your call or call back during such and such hours". I know that seems soo silly but what can yah do some people can't tell time I guess, hehheheeeee.Thank you for all of the responses

Please get a phone

You could buy a phone strickly for work and put voicemail on in the off hours. Keep it purely a work phone and keep it at work so that it does not become a work / personal phone and start interfering with your personal life. You could even write off the costs as business expenses.
You are very high on my visit list but my time in Victoria is limited and sporadic with meetings. In the last month I would have been able to see you if at least twice if I could have phoned or txt'd you, but it was all meetings finishing early or being canceled. All spur of the moment.
Regardless of your decision I will see you soon. Now that I am in Nanaimo the urge to see you may be too much to not listen to.
