There's a c*ck sukkin bee hive in a tree at about shoulder height. Kinda weird bee's too. Very black looking body, not your typical looking honey bee's. Anyways it's at the bottom of my yard.

I may not be a pussy but I aint exactly cool with dragging the lawn mower down there wit all that fukkin noise and disturbing the tree branches while I say "excuse me bee's I'll be done in a minute or two!!"

And wait until night time to do it, when they are inside and sleeping. That being said, there is always one or two sentinels around, so I would still run like a little bitch after you blast them.

If they are bees, you should not destroy the nest. Bees are good!

Sounds like it may be mason bees which look like big black flies...although they are usually more solitary and do not build nests...they live in little cave-like tunnels. They do not produce honey but are star polinators. Very wondrous to the eco-system. And they are gentle creatures.

So, i would first identify what you've got...hornets and wasps we can do without but bees...bees are special.

So'z Pussy but I don't want it buzzin around me while I'm mowing the lawn :p

Mason Bees?!?!?! Maybe, but the couple web sites I had a boo at didn't seem to say anything about them building nests in trees that look like hanging grapefruits.

The little suckas have a right to live, and they will add there 2¢ to the eco system, but dang makes being out in the back yard annoying.

bee hive

I agree with Veronica, It sounds like these are blue bee's
they are generaly not agressive and do wonders for your friut and flowers.
If you are trying to rid youyself of a wasps nest the best and most effective is use a vacume at dusk as the bee's will be mostly in for the night.
a vacume with a throwaway bag is best, run an extention cord to the spot and calmly walk to the site. hold the suction end close to the opening of the hive and turn on the vacume, slowly use the suction end and in small circles suck up the hive, after its all gone take a can of raid and spray it into the suction of the vacume. I have done this many times and have never been stung while doing this
cheers.

you get my vote for wuss of the year!

if they are bees, they won't hurt you unless you actually disturb the nest ... if they are wasps, they will start chasing you the moment you get within scent range ...

best thing is to just leave them alone ... and what better excuse to not mow the lawn do you need???

or they could be killer bees. lol but i had a basketball sized hive growing on the side of my shed. one night i bought 2 off containers that self spray opened the two up at the same time and put them under the hive so that they were spraying upwards. the next morning not a bee came out. they were all dead. i was considering making some home made off honey :)

i had another one hanging from my tree in my yard. at night time i took a garbage bag and covered the hive and broke it right off from the hive. i then took a cardboard box and put the garbage back with the hive in it.
i taped it shut. next i took the box and threw it into my neighbors lawn LOL jj

Put a large jug of bleach in a spray bottle and keep spraying the nest with it. The acid will kill em all and the wetness will keep them from flying. They'll think its rain and not attack.

How to get rid of the nest

Only because this is you Hitrack, because of all the enjoyment given to a non-cruzer.

Wait until late at night when it is cool so the hive is less active. Armed with a pair of scecaters (spelling?), a large paper bag or two, possibly a saw, a elper might be handy (but then you are Hitrack you'll do it yourself) Place the bag over the hive being sure to cover it all. Be careful not to bump the nestas they'll come see what the bumping was. Place the nest inside the
bag and hold the bag closed. Cut or saw the bag through. This will rile them up a bit, that's why you might want to use two bags; possibly evenwear gloves. After you have cut/sawed the branch you can either move the nest to another place or dispose of it. If you are going to do the latter you should crush it to prevent someone from opening the bag and meeting some really pissed off bee's

My other buddy seems to believe dousing the nest with gas and lighting it is the (fun) way to go. Where's a retard smiley when I need it??

If you would like a simple, non-lethal method. Get a paper bag about the same size as the hive. Inflate the paper bag and hang it near the hive.

Bees, wasps and hornets are territorial. The bage will look like another hive and will either attempt to take it over or in most cases leave.

This works great if you are outside and don't want to be bothered by them. Have a bag hanging near where you are sitting and they will avoid the area.

This will be fun!

1st, bundle up in lots of clothing and wrap a couple of t-shirts around you head and face...wear goggles

Grab a hockey stick..

Grab some lighter fluid for the bbq

Light a cigarette...puff away

walk up to the little mofo's nest when they're sleeping

Gently knock the nest to the ground with the hockey stick

quickly squirt the fuckin' thing with the lighter fluid (keeping continer away from face and lit cigarette)...

toss the lighter fluid jug far away (close the nozzle 1st)

scream like a Zulu warrior (never mind the neighbours....it's fuckin' Surrey, right?)

toss the lit cigarette on the nest and watch the fuckers fly while on fire!!!

Then, to quote Mnty Python after the knights attack the killer rabbit, "Run away, run away!"
