My boss bought himself a fancy import SUV last week. Being an affluent guy, he wrote a check, and drove away.
Signed, sealed delivered.
Today...more than a week later, the dealership calls. They say they are cancelling the sale. The car had been promised to someone else and the salesman should not have sold it. They could get him a new one "soon". (Not likely)
My boss told them to GTFO. They cashed his cheque, he has their signatures on the paperwork.
Car dealers are jerks.
That's hilarious!! Imagine how stupid the person making the call feels.

I would offer to sell it back to them at 150% what I paid, then purchase another at the "regular" price. Give them an extra 10% to rush my order.

It is hard to say. You don't know that their prices wouldn't be 20-100% higher if they had a dealer network. I put in a reservation for a Ford F150 Lightening on Ford's website. I put down my $100 deposit at what I thought was an agreed upon price, full MSRP no discount which is unheard of buying a Ford. I got a call from the dealer saying another $5000 if I want to keep my place in line.

Tell him to get fucked and go to another dealer.

Unfortunately this will be more commonplace as time goes on. It's not only Toyota. Mercedes, BMW, Kia, Hyundai are all doing the same thing with vehicle features.
Free to begin with, then subscription service after a few years.

See, this sort of unethical scammy bullshit is why you need a strong government to march in with jackboots on and step on their balls.

Also, remote starting is a fake convenience, basically for dunces and wimps.

I have remote start in my vehicle, beats the shit out of going out to start it when’s it’s -25 plus don’t have to worry about a crack addict stealing it while it’s warming up.

It gives heated seats and steering wheels time to warm up too!

If you live in some place like that, it's worth it. Too many urban dunces around here. I've seen remorte started (accidentally) vehicles left idling here for literally several hours because the person was at work in a nearby office building.

I don't mind the heated wheel and seats, though.

Question: In an EV, the vehicle does not need to warm up the motor, I assume. Or does it?
