Hey all, I need alittle info and feedback before I do this. I am afraid of the dentist as I am sure some of us are, and want my teeth whiter, almost bleached white like I have seen some people getting done, but don't want to hit a dentist and was wondering if those Crest White Strips or any of those "whitening" remedies really work, or if they are just gimmicks, or if they end up eating all the enamel from your teeth in which we need?

Any info or feedback would be appreciated.

they do

The Oral B ones work the best....however, as a fellow dentist hater, I really recommend going to the dentist and having them do a laser whitening....pain free, no need for anesthetic.

Hi Jen,

I tried the first version of the crest white strips, I followed the directions to the letter. They did help, but not THAT much at all, and only I noticed. Hardly worth the $100 (at that time) price tag for 2 weeks.

Dentists do the bleaching for around $300 now, its quite affordable, and it works. I would trust a trained, qualified dentist with my teeth than my own, considering I can't beat a trained professional.

Just my 2 cents.

You will end up getting a better result, safer result and actually have someone to talk to if things arent going the way you want to if you go to a dentist.

THere are many new products out there that have reduced sensitivity when you are undergoing the whitening...Zoom works the best and usually 3 days for the take home product.

I would go with the take home product, that way you can touch them up, ie: make them as white as you want by wearing more...to a certain level.

Make sure you get a cleaning done right before, that way all the guck will be off your teeeth (i wasnt referrring to that guck) so the whitening gel can do a better job

I did a little internet research and tried the Crest White Strips about a year ago and was VERY pleased with the results. I and my family REALLY noticed a difference....I'm not talking fluorescent chicklets, just the results I was hoping for :)
One caveat: if you have any dental work (veneers, white fillings, etc) they will NOT bleach.

OK, Jenn....it's drivin' me nuts! Did you use the strips or not?? :)
I bought 2 different kinds. I bought some 5 minute whitener and the Crest Strips. I have seen a tiny difference so far, but I'm not sure which one is doing it because I'm using both LOL. plus I just started. I will say, the white strips are a pain in the ass to put on and keep on. I guess if I shut up for 5 minutes they would stay in place. LOL

Seriously girls (I'm getting wood just thinking of Jenn with her mouth open:D ) the strips do work to some extent. While they do not provide for as effective a treatment as bleaching or laser at the dentist they are a less expensive alternative and don't require a trip to the dreaded dentist.
2 points though. As Szabina stated we all have various shades of dentin and therefore not all of us can accomplish that perfect pearly white smile. I personally have Celtic blood and reddish hair. Even after professional bleaching have been told that my teeth will have a bit of a yellowish tone. Secondly, bleaching does damage the enamel on your tooth surface and therefore make on more prone to cavities, etc. If you bleach you must restore the enamel by use of flouride either in your water, toothpaste or flouride applications at the dentist.

How do you know the Toothbrush was invented in Alberta?

Anywhere else it would have been called the TEETHbrush. (Bada-tshhhhhh):D
