I do a couple triathlon's a year.
I generally do it alone....but i really am not a strong swimmer.
I have wanted to try a team triathlon, with a swim partner.
I will gladly run and cycle, if anyone cares to do the swim portion.
I am planning to do the Okanagan one in June.
I just did a winter iceman competition, and its 4 disciplines in that one.
i did okay with the x-country ski, run, and skate...but again the strong swimmers complete in about 70% of my swim times.
I had shoulder surgery and it just hurts to swim since.

So let me know please if interested.

Thanks:)

Are you serious.. they have these competitions ?

ONE of my biggest goals in life was to complete a tri-athalon but can't do the run portion.

A bit of history....

Many years ago I was watching this ' extreme tri-athalon ' that is held in Hawaii once a year. There was a dude with a prospect leg doing this Extreme journey. They call it by it's name because it's not an average tri-athalon. Anyway, his dude didn't win, but he finished, and for anyone who actually competes actually can understand that finishing is really what counts most... so many people quit. ~ kinda mirror life in some strange way ~

So here I am completely motivated to do what this man did, finish !!

I join a group in Calgary and start training. I buy a bike ( I can't afford ) I swim 5 times a week. I have my speed up I have my endurance up... I'm ready for the next sport. So, I go hunting for a beginners running group and end up sign up for ' The Running Rooms ' beginners jogging class. There I am huffing and puffing, dieing with every foot drop and every step I make. To last 10 days, and the bottoms of my feet fell. Seriously the muscles that hold up your feet that wrap around your bones, all collapsed. I couldn't walk 10 mins before it felt like knives where in them.

And to this day .... it's all I want to do STILL ... and know I can't because my feet are not strong enough.

So YES I would start training again to do this with you Mr.Gentleman. If you are serious call me - you got my #

fyi: I was a speed swimmer and wanna be coach. Although I'm fat now and old, my heart is still in the water.

Different category we would be under is all.

Team...not individual.

More and more seem to be adding Team efforts to the competitions.

And since you like to bike as well...if you like mountain biking, i want to put a team together again for this years 24 hour race in Canmore.
Its a blast....well except for the crash i had last year :(
If interested let me know.....i did it in a team of 3 guys, and 1 gal last year.
basically need a good mtn bike and lites for the nite runs.
if you need i have 4 mtn bikes and you can borrow on for as long as you need to train and compete.
Just would have to ship it to you since you are a wee bit of a drive to deliver it ;)
I have a med framed brodie torque hard tail with judy forks that would likely fit you okay.
It has clipless pedals, so you either need to buy the special shoes with cleats, or swap the pedals back to regular pedals.

If you don't end up co-ordinating with AL, let me know. My background is swimming and I still swim masters and train all three triathlon sports recreationally but haven't got the time to get in good enough shape to race. However, if you need a swimmer, I'm in. Are you talking about the Oliver sprint triathlon or the Oliver 1/2 IM triathlon ?

AL - 2 points here

One, if GF had to pick just one partner, I KNOW you are a much more attractive choice than me :p

Also, a triathlon has 3 sports and there are 3 of us and, the Okanagan is beautiful in summer.

so I could come and hang with you dudes and watch you compete... I'd have the beer cold and in the cooler.... tents all warm and supplied with ~ mmmmmmmmm ~ massage oil for back rubs, leg rubs, small leg rubs... hahahaha

I've been told cook a mean steak, I know how to mix up protein shakes, and last but not least... I'm not bad company !!

Sorry

I was out much of the day.....so i kinda like the idea of 2 teamates.

My strongest event is the cycling...but if you want to do it, i will run instead.

And excuse my ignorance, i did not realize there was 2 different events.

I thought it was a regular triathlon

Heck this could be fun....i wonder ifwe could possible get the #69 for our team ;)

Buy a wetsuit(it will help u with the swim) or train with a group who swim in open water as there are some around who swim in the ocean at Kits(www.vowsa.bc.ca) or Sasamat in Port Moody-you would be able to ask someone to join your team I am sure... your swimming will improve if you get used to swimming in open water...I have done much longer races(Ironman) and prefer to do all of the disciplines so not intersted in joining a team..hope this helps
