I watched tiny parts of it on youtube and amazing how brainwashed some of these kids are. I've seen adults shake, speak in tongues, etc but not children

Children can be made to do almost anything if the people who control their food, clothing and education are so inclined.

This is why we cannot allow religion in our classrooms.
This is why we must retain a public school system and compel the attendance of all children in that public school system.
This is why we must develop a system that allows children who are being abused to find refuge.

sdw - Why do believe it is neccessary to COMPEL people to do anything. While agree with you that we should not allow the "brainwashing" of children be it religion, political ideology, or anything else for that matter, the biggest bennifit to living in a free society is that we have the right to do what we want and express ourselves how we want as long as it is within the boundaries of what is acceptable to the society and does not harm others.

Fortunately in BC (and the rest of Canada for that matter) the government ensures that a minimum standard of balanced education is met in all schools (be they public or private). Therefore, if parents want to send their children to private schools, it is there right and neither you nor the government should be able to COMPEL them to do otherwise.

Of course, this is IMHO. Being a fee society you have the right to disagree.

Was invited to a pentecostal church a few years back and it was a strange experience. Watching the entire congregation shake, roll around on the ground, speak in tongues, etc. The pastor was angry when i wouldnt give him a big hug and laughed at what they where doing.

If Jesus came back today and saw what is being done in his name, he'd never stop puking.

Interesting to see most “mainstream evangelicals” attempts to distance themselves from the film… or, in turn, challenge the filmmakers motives – after all, they proclaim the wascally liberals true intent in making the documentary was to emphasize the voting patterns of those portrayed and equate them with the “Religious Right”… Republican voting parents who indoctrinate their children with an ultimate goal to foster a theocracy in the U.S. Oh my - the filmmakers are the devils!

... and to see Haggard in the film, uhhh, before his most unfortunate demise :D

Speaking of evangelical Christians… this “no sex please, we’re daddy’s little girls” item has been played up in recent days: Purity Balls -

In what is becoming a trend among conservative Christians in the United States, girls as young as nine are pledging to their fathers to remain virgins until they wed, in elaborate ceremonies dubbed "Purity Balls."

The highlight is when the fathers and daughters exchange vows, with dad signing a covenant to protect his daughter's chastity by living an unblemished life and the daughter promising not to have sex until marriage.

The popularity of the balls in the United States, especially among evangelical Christians, mirrors the Bush administration's support of abstinence education in US schools. The government's funding for such initiatives has more than doubled in recent years to 206 million dollars
