dress well and behave like an ATM
Yes, there are women working high-end hotel bars in Vancouver, as there are in every city. (I travel quite often for work.)
In the Canada and the US of Paranoia, many of the sort of providers who work high-end hotels are playing a game to see how much they can make. Most will push for higher-than-average rates, while providing average service. (The situation is quite different in Eastern Europe and particularly the Muslim world, where hotel bars are often an excellent point of contact.)
Still interested? Here's how to attract them: Dress well (expensive watch and very expensive shoes are important). Sit alone but in clear view, order an expensive bottle of wine, place the bottle in view. Make a show of paying cash by peeling a few bills off a large wad of cash. If she's there, she'll contact you before you pour your second glass.
Plan B: Tip the bellboy or busboy to do a little research for you. Avoid asking the concierge or bartender, as they tend to have management aspirations and are just as likely to steer you (and the woman) away from the hotel.
The Armani-and-cabernet routine has worked for me in a dozen North American cities, including Vancouver. (I had a nice romp at the Pan Pacific about four years ago.)
This act also does a pretty good job of attracting the few dancers in a strip club who're looking for a little after-hours freelancing. In Canada and the US, I've received much better mileage by pulling this act in strip bars than in hotels.
Either way, however, mileage is better and satisfaction more guaranteed by calling a Very Veronica or a Fox girl or one of the other escorts favorably reviewed on this board. Neither hotel sluts nor stippers cum cheap. But if you've got the time and the money and the clothes, making yourself into "bait" and waiting for them to come to you can be an amusing way to kill an evening. (Personally, I enjoy this method most when I'm travelling on someone else's money. Next best thing to literally f---ing a client.)
