A rude awakening

L

LADY-VIA

This morning I was woken up with the usual meowing I often get... generally hes hungry or wants to play or thirsty... He jumps on the bed then crawls all over me and jumps down. then back up again.

I rolled over half asleep and started to pet him.. then shut my eyes again..

Half asleep I heard and felt this scratching sound.. and visualized something in my head then shot right up and I was right.. He was scratching the blanket to "cover" the huge f****ing piss he just took all over my comforter !!!!!

I was in shock.

I grabbed the blankets quick and took care of them.. then opened the sliding patio doors and screamed at him to get out.

Im so confused as to why he did this ???? His littler box was just cleaned.

He does prefer to go outside.. although I like to keep him in as much as i can when its dark out as the raccoons have really moved back in.

He used to go for lots of walks on the beach and outside in general when it was sunny (actually enjoys his leash )... but due to the rain he hasnt been out as much. There are so many places he could have done this in my house.. however right on top of me in bed, when his box was just cleaned seems to be some kind of a message ????

ANY ADVICE PLEASE !!!!!!!! ??????

Take him to a vet - pure-breds often have inbred problems or he may have a urinary tract problem.

Most likely it's a stress-related problem. Male cats often show their displeasure at changes in their environment, a move, a new addition, being ignored, etc. by peeing in inappropriate places.

Sometimes there is no explanation, but the cat does it anyway and there's no solution. The vet would then want to put it on some kind of drug. Not sure what you do then.

Good luck.

PS - mongrels make the best pets.

My cat did that whenever there was a big change he wasn't happy with - when we added a new kitten to the family, and then when we added a puppy.

Seconding the advice to go to a vet. If a cat has urinary tract issues, they associate the pain caused by it with their litterbox, and try to alleviate it by going elsewhere.

My cat had the same issue once, I felt so bad for all of the yelling when I found out why she had been making a mess on my blanket :(

He's letting you know that he's tired of people coming over. By doing this, he knew you would post this and now feels no one will come over :pound:. The bed and place is his castle.

A couple's feud at store :p:D
FUNNY !!!! this did not happen downtown but rather at my more permanent location elsewhere :) and he actually likes my male visitors and has socialized with a few :)

my cat does have a bad habbit of drinking the fish bowl water ???? so Im not sure whats picking his ass .. but I guess a trip to the vet is the best solution... :) thanks

ps.. I have no intention of fixing him.. so I hope this is a one time event. :)

Same thing happened to me, all over my favorite coat. That was when I learned the smell of cat pee never, ever comes out :(
Isn't that the sad truth. I used a whole bottle of Febreeze on a small area of a suitcase, but the stench is still there.

I agree with the above statements about territory/dominance, he's a year old so he's starting to get those male hormones that make them act out more, ie, marking their territory.
If you don't intend on getting him neutered then prepare for the spraying to begin eventually and that smell does not come out easily :(
There is a great product called Natures Miracle which does attack the enzyme in animal urine and helps break down that smell, especially if used immediately.

Hope it works out!

Use an enzymatic cleaner as quick as you can. Don't let it hit the dryer until you've used one, and sadly, let it dry naturally. The enzymatic cleaners take a few days to work correctly. There is also a pheromone treatment that you can buy like a plug in wall scent. It's scentless to us, but if you put one in the bedroom, it will promote a feeling of well being and happiness that he will like. Usually this will stop them peeing on the bed. I had this with one of my cats when she got pissed off about a new dog years ago. The treatment worked well and she stopped peeing in the bedroom. Sadly, that just meant that she transferred it to the couch because she really hated the dog!

There is also a difference between marking and peeing. A marking pee will be a small spray, not a full bladder emptying pee.

ah ok so this was a full bladder pee.. not a marking at all. :) I actually think he might have been agry with me or felt neglected because I left him at home for a few days in a row and did not bring him dt with me. :( He generally goes where I go.

maybe then it was a behavioral reaction to you not being around and 'showed' his displeasure. Hopefully it's a one time event.

I have had countless cats over the years, they are by far my favorite animal, If you are not planing to fix him, can I ask why?

In my experience that is the krux of your problem.

If he is an outdoor cat, then you are most likely contributing to more kittens being born....we don't really need that..

Not judgin, but it had to be mentioned.

well i MIGHT buy him a wife.. :) I wouldnt mind kittens of my own .. see as children isnt in the near future :)

I'm also torn about the whole oporation process and dont want him to go through any discomfort or pain.. he just a baby still.

He manages to slip by and get outside here and there ... and of course when i told him to get out the other day.. but for the most part Hes leashed. so hes both indoor outdoor. if he was female.. she would be fixed for sure so I didnt have any unplanned kittens :) ( hate to sound so one way here about the "fixing " topic.. however I DO OWN A STUD, and he wont be coming home knocked up. ;) )

so the moment no.. I dont plan on fixing him.. that could change though

my hair is black at the moment too but I have always had a thing for red hair :)
