It's like they have torn a page out of a Hollywood script.

Now the Senate is actually voting on the proposed interview of Americans by Putin's GRU? This is really fucked up.

I think what we are witnessing is a new global alliance of Russia and USA. Eerily familiar to Hitler, Mussolini, Franco and The Emperor of Japan's alliance in the 1930's.

Trump starting trade wars with Canada, Europe, China and then pissing off all the member nations of Nato. Putin annexing Crimea and making gestures about Montenegro.

I'm hopeful the Republican controlled Congress and Senate grow some balls to reign in Trump.

Since no one knows what putin and trump discussed, would we be surprised to learn that trump offered to swap Alaska for some prime (trump owned) real estate in Moscow? ;-) It just leaves me totally dumbfounded that America let this meeting go ahead, with no public record. Even the White House apparently has no idea what was discussed.

There wasn't an alliance between Franco and the rest of the axis powers. Hilter provided planes and pilots to him during the Spanish civil war and then Spain was neutral in WW II.

Yah great leader allowing Nazi planes to kill socialist opposition prior to the war, provide logistics and intel about ship and troop movements during the war. Franco was a Nazi sympathizer who used their weaponry to solve the socialists in the mountains.

The only time Franco stood up to Nazi was when it was apparent they were going to move into Spain through the Pyrenees.

Neutral in name only.

Seems to me Chuck Yeager took advantage of Spain's neutrality in the war but you seem to know everything so maybe that wasn't the case.

I'm listening.

Spain played both sides as convenient at the time and events. More so on the Nazi side especially with the logistics and intel. Franco was a fascist appeasing towards the Axis. This occurred long before Britain woke up or before USA.

Yeager was born in 1923. Spanish Civil War started in 1936.

Are you sure a 13 yr old was flying for Franco?

He of course was in the US Air Force, shot down over France in WW II. Made his way back to England through neutral Spain

What an alarmist, not to mention ignorant, statement about history and the nature of the governments involved. There are actually checks and balances in the US constitution that will prevent Trump from being a Mussolini, Franco or Emperor to Putin as your Neo-Hitler. The House and Senate will have a lot to say on that subject.

How long had Germany been a democratic country before Hitler turned it into a dictatorship? How about Italy and Spain? Was Japan a democracy when it joined the Axis?

Your new "global alliance" is about as likely to come about as the second coming, and is based solely on speculation that Putin may have compromising information on Trump.

Do you really believe that Trump can overthrow, during his term as president, over 200 years of democracy and turn America into what was the equivalent of what were fascist dictatorships? Do you also realize that, if there is one thing his base hates more than condescending liberal wanna be intellectuals, it is Russians?

Is it plausible the Russians have some compromising information on Trump? Yes. But read this and tell me, do you think it is enough to turn the entire US government into joining a global alliance with Russia? And if it is just compromising information on Trump, why would Democrats and moderate Republicans join in an alliance with Russia?

https://www.newyorker.com/news-desk/swamp-chronicles/a-theory-of-trump-kompromat

Do you really believe that Trump has enough power as President to make a "a new global alliance" with Russia become a reality? Or are you just spreading fake news?
Good questions...but then why has the Repub ( and Dem!) establishment let this liar get away with so much? Annexation of Crimea, shooting down of the Malaysian flight, poisonining people, crackdowns on the media and gay rights, jailing opposition leaders, assisting Iran...these all seem to get a free pass from Trump. And very few on the Republican side have said anything..a couple of critics have even become Avid supporters.

This thread is going off in a direction I did not intend!

Please return to how hot this Russian agent is and how hot Jennifer Lawrence is in Red Sparrow lol. In link below the pics where Butina is holding the gun and wearing cowboy hat is especially hot. Almost makes me want to go out and buy a pistol lol.

Even her voice when she asks Trump the question in the press conference is very sexie. And it reports that she offered sex for information. All subjects more relevant to this site :)

Ok, :D

I think Maria Butina is the first of many operatives that will come to light from this Russia Investigation. With all the lengthy investigations going on with Mueller's team, it's a certainty more will follow with the light clearly being on Russia now. That is what this particular Red Sparrow did that caused her to be noticed. Pretty smart scheme actually to involve the NRA via the Gun Lobby and sex. That is one way to engage #45's base with guns and sex with a Russian :p

Historically, most nations know who are GRU or CIA operatives when placed in Embassy's around the world. Usually they trip over their own feet came when they have attempted to recruit local assets. Just look at what happens when Washington or Moscow get in a spat with each other - usually about 30 people are sent home the next day. These being the known CIA or GRU personnel.

I saw both Red Sparrow and Atomic Blonde which are different yet in a similar time period. I enjoyed the main characters being strong female protagonists with the story evolving around them. One movie a bit slower and plodding as in a John Le Carre style with a female George Smiley and one being a hot female James Bond doing all her own stunts with a sense of humour to one of the most killer 1980's soundtracks. Loved both films for their plot and both female leads are hot. :thumb:

I saw both films as well. And I totally agree about the 80's soundtrack in Atomic Blonde. I would watch the film again just for the soundtrack. I enjoyed both movies as well. I did like the ending in Red Sparrow better.

And if you like shows about East/West Germany in the 80s, then you will likely like:

And you may also like the new series (though not about East/West Germany so much and takes place in present time, but does involve a cold war of sorts):

Thanks for the tips, I'll check them out.

Grand Daddy Spy film for me is Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy.

The story is excellent and Gary Oldman's portrayal of MI 6 commander George Smiley is amazing when compared to anything else he has done.
