I agree with you, for the most part....but farm kids in the construction/trade industry are sought after. If you work for a family business and only family worked there; Do you want a equal share of it, or just take the minimum wage.... If you are not taught about law and what your rights are, people can take advantage of you. The greater good of the family or community... your taught from a young age to be giving...etc.... and young men and women are indoctrinated into the system, when someones bucks it they are kicked out of the business and family, they have poor educational skills because they are taught nothing in order for them to succeed in the modern world. The more ignorant of the world they are, the easier it is to control them.
If it is so great, how many young men stay? Most of the women are encouraged to stay by marrying them off early like at 15 or 16. Not to young men, to older men in their 40's and they will be the 4 th or 5 th wife...
watch the video. lots of documentaries have been done about Bountiful BC....
We show up for work, and are on time....will stay late to get a job completed, polite and respectful, and may not be book smart, but what we lack, we make up in common sense..
Common sense will get you further sometimes than book smarts.....I am a farm kid, I have grade ten.
Yes I worked very hard to get to the place I am today....and there were times I wished I had more education.
But I'm not living hand to mouth.
The place the young men may be lacking, being raised in that environment is their view on women, and their social skills outside of the commune.
I've known many Dukabors, Huldamen, and Mormon men.....and they do think and act very different....and that's coming from a guy who really doesn't fit in anyplace.
