Leo`s Woes

The ass kicking the Leos took from the Alouettes was a real eye opener to BC`s braintrust. This game proved that they are simply not good enough to compete and serious changes have to be made.
This past season was a year of transisson. Wally released a core group of leaders and it`s very difficult to replace those veterans in one year.
Lastly, a large reason for the recent success of the Lions is due to the recruiting talents of Bobby Ackles and Bob O`Billiovich. With the death of Bobby Ackles and O`Billovich heading to become GM in Hamilton has left a huge hole in the scouting department. In my humble opinion, Roy Shivers who replaced O`Billovich failed last season to find the good young talent that we needed to replace the likes of Jason Clermont, Ty Williams, Otis Floyd etc.
Much work remains before this teams returns to respectability

seems they have been a very successful franchise without him too...

and please don't tell me he has been the architect of the current Calgary team...
While I am not the biggest Wally fan in the world, and I do have to question some of his on game decisions, numbers don't lie.

Before Wally took over in Calgary in 1990, the Stamps hadn't been to a Grey Cup since 1971. The 5 preceding years before Wally the Stamps had a combined record of 40-48, and the 4 years after his departure they were 32-39-1.

In his 20 years coaching the Stamps and the Lions, he has 12 first place finishes, 4 seconds, 1 third, 2 fourths and 1 fifth. He has 4 Grey Cup wins, 8 Grey Cup appearances, and 16 Western finals. Yea, he must be a real poor coach.

I won't even go into the record of the Lions for the 5 previous years before he arrived.

I certainly don't have a problem with anyone having an opinion but it should at least be backed up with some type of factual information.

Again I will say I am not Wally's biggest fan, but he is one hell of a successful coach.

So in sumation, Mr. H before you start running off at the mouth like you actually know something, do some research first.

Buono has spent his entire career with two of the most resourceful franchises in the CFL...

he has been blessed to have top talent because of that...

Braley and the late Bobby Ackles resurrected this team not Buono...

one with money, the other with connections..

I would take Hufnagel, Miller and Trestman over him in a heart beat...

Eric Tillman or Scott Ackles would be a brilliant fit...

and the fact remains, relative to his regular season success he has been a post season flop...

the 2004 benching of the CFL's outstanding player Printers for the Grey Cup was ridiculous...

it would be like Ovechkin scoring 65 goals, winning the Hart Trophy leading the Capitals to the Stanley Cup final...

and than having Boudreau on the eve of game 1 announcing that Ovechkin will be a healthy scratch for the finals...

BTW, I wonder how Ovechkin would react...

an absolutely overthought heinous decision by Buono...
That's a ridiculous comparison you gave in regards to Ovechkin. Dave Dickenson was an awfully good quarterback that had experience in the Grey Cup, and Wally was very loyal to him since his years in Calgary. I don't question him for not starting Casey Printers in the 2004 Grey Cup, I just think he should have brought him into the game in the second half to change things up a bit. It doesn't mean B.C. would have won, it just meant Toronto's defence would have had to adjust to a different type of q.b.
