This is my new favourite show. For those who don't know about it, the concept is they take two warriors from throughout history, test their weapons and fighting techniques, run a 1000 computer simulations and crown a winner. It's on Spike Sunday afternoons and I think it runs on Tuesdays as well. Check it out!!!

The show isn't phoney at all, they do exactly what they say they will. They use modern technology to measure the effects of past warriors weaponry. The issue is with the title, deadliest warrior because the matchups aren't very accurate as they can't take into account CUNNING, STRATEGY etc. I think it is quite interesting as long as you don't take stock in the final outcome and who wins. But the methods they use to test are interesting.

but isn't that the premise of the entire show...

too many variables and flat out absurd at times in the fight sequences...

I like this show. Not so much for the final battle, or any of the who is betterr crap, I like how they demonstrate some of the old, trippy weapons.

I've seen most of the episodes and its cool to see the weapons and the damage they can do however the match ups they choose are usually strange tho. But still pretty good.

Mythbusters is still a better choice tho, Canada's worst handyman and driver are always good for a laugh or 10 too

I enjoy the show too for its entertainment value and to see what other fighting arts exist (eg. Apache warrior). The fight scenes at the end can always be questioned but its more entertaining than simply telling us who wins.

Also, last time I check lyoto hasn't killed anyone. So he's not that "deadly"

I don`t like the show much. I think their comparisions miss out on many key points.

I watched the one where they compared Roman Gladiators against some American Indian tribe. They decided the Indians were the better warrior, cause they had bow and arrows, therefore could just kill the gladiator while he was still 100s of feet away

Like wow, thanks for the hour long show, showing people with long range weapons will be well prepared against people with no long range weapons.

Check out the message board on Spike tv. Look at the thread for the Green Berets versus the Speznas. I've never seen so many Yankee rednecks flipping out in my life! Especially when I posted that they were lucky they weren't facing the Canadians :p

The thing with the Spetsnaz is they undergo training that would be considered illegal in western culture and the people conducting this training would be in jail for 10-20 years for it. Those who finish are very hard men indeed and when they go into combat they are so used to blood, gore and hardship that combat doesn't even faze them.

Take away all the high tech gadgets and of course the massive boost from airstrikes the U.S. armed forces get and I can very well see a spetz soldier coming out on top over others.

Sounds interesting. I'd like to see the nerd version though, where they throw the Starship Enterprise in vs. a Star Destroyer vs. the Battlestar Galactica and see who comes out on top. I've always wondered about that one...

Spetsnaz is a catch all phrase in the Soviet military for special operations. The Green Berets are the best the US Army has. But they aren't as specialized as some other units in the US Military.

Navy Seal team 6, Delta force, Alpha team Special forces. in the US.

SAS in Britain, JFT2 in Canada, French Foreign Legionnaires, Germany's Spezialisierte Kräfte GS2
