Well we had the trailer now here is the real thing.
What the fuck was that .
I just got back from Star Trek .. and...and....and..... i watched it hoping they would put things right .. but it just got more out of control.
Find alternate reality seen that one before.. but this is just over board.. .Transporters that can beam on to a ship traveling a warp and all ready light days a way.. no sensor lock , nothing just show Scotty the formula and presto chango .
Sure the actors are great .. the effects are awesome .. but way too much laser fire... and the Checkoff character was a compilation with another communication officer and a transporter genius need a quick fix just make some one up .
Honestly i was one of the oldest there .. and i was the first to leave .. it was not Star Trek.... just some smoke and mirrors:(

I am here too

Yep no life... But Not a Star Trek geek.. i just love SF and Star Trek was one of the first good ones... now they have played with it one time too many..
I am sure it will get good reviews .. most of those seeing were not even born when the original was on TV.. they just grew up with STNG , Voyager and the latest Enterprise ... all better made then Star Trek and I loved them also..
But to fuck with the original that is a sin.

Lets see how they screwed up .

1. the first crew of the Enterprise did not have any of the following , Kirk, Sulu, Ahuru , Checkoff, Scotty, or Macoy in fact they came in bit by bit and then turned into main characters .
2. Spock was there as science officer ,Captain Pick, the second officer was a woman Roddenberry's wife, later cast as a nurse .. and later executive producer .
3. Where are some real Trekies or don't they fuck.. Maybe only if the girl is Green.lol:)

I thought the movie was great and far exceeded my expectations. Chris Pine, Zachary Quinto, and especially Karl Urban fit nicely as the younger Kirk, Spock, and McCoy.

You'd have to be an evangelical Trekkie not to appreciate the movie, even with the revisionist take. As they've rewritten the Star Trek history any number of sequels are possible, but how they are going to do is the hard part.

With all of the references to the original series it will be hard to not become a cliche, and it will require stories which develop the characters in the new history.

I can't wait to see where they go.

Definitely worth the admission price, and probably the most enjoyable movie of this summer.

i was never really a fan of star trek(any of them) or the movies they did but this was sweet, the cast was awesome. i hope they make more movies with these actors. and they basically started over the whole franchise so they always make change things up from the original

The movie was awesome, and yes I was around when the original series was on the tube.

While we are at it, the correct term for devotees of Star Trek is Trekker, not Trekkie

I haven't seen it yet, but I suspect that the best way to approach this movie is to first forget everything you know about Star Trek. Start with a clean slate. This movie wasn't designed to appease trekkies, who are a niche market. It's designed for everybody else. That's where the big bucks are.

If you paid attention, the movie was based on an alternate reality based on Romulan influence, so they did not screw up, you did

Watch it for free online at:

Users rated the movie 9.5/10 btw

From Wikipedia...

Trekkie vs. Trekker

Some Star Trek enthusiasts prefer the term "Trekkie", while some others self-identify as "Trekker". Self-identification as a "Trekkie" became even less popular after a famous national television parody in 1986 (see Parodies below); several self-described "Trekkers" were quoted as saying they "had a life" (contrasting themselves from "Trekkies").

In the 1991 TV show Star Trek: 25th Anniversary Special, Leonard Nimoy attempts to settle the issue by stating that the term 'Trekker' is the correct one.

In the documentary Trekkies, Kate Mulgrew stated that Trekkers are the ones "walking with us" while the Trekkies are the ones content to simply sit and watch Star Trek.

The issue is also shown in the film Trekkies 2, in which a Star Trek fan recounts a supposed incident during a Star Trek convention where Gene Roddenberry used the term "trekkies" to describe fans of the show, only to be corrected by a fan that stood up and yelled "Trekkers!" Gene Roddenberry allegedly responded with "No, it's 'Trekkies.' I should know — I invented the thing."

Went to go see it on Saturday, & here's my thoughts...

I grew up with 2 Trekker parents, who had most of the TOS episodes on tape, and I started watching TNG when it came on, as well as DS9, and the first few seasons of Voyager.

TNG was great, DS9 was slow as hell starting up, but once they established the Dominion in the 3rd season, the show became brilliant with its character & plot development. Voyager I never really cared for, and stopped watching the last few seasons out of disgust/boredom.... I never watched Enterprise, as it never interested me in the least. But I digress...

I've seen all of the previous 10 movies, and out of them, Wrath Of Khan, First Contact and The Undiscovered Country rank at the top - I have a soft spot for The Voyage Home and Generations, as well....

Now, what did I think of the movie? Two words.... Fucking Brilliant...

The cast was flawless - they don't try to do exact impersonations, which was quite wise - Spock, Scotty & especially McCoy were incredible to watch, and the others were great as well. Keep an eye on the actress who plays Uhura, she is SMOKIN' hot....

As for Kirk, Chris Pine does an excellent job as well - does he go for the easy way out & try for a bad Shatner imitation? Not in the least - he's mostly imitating Kirk in spirit - he leads with his fists first, then his dick - seriously, Kirk in this movie is a major horndog, which was great to see.

This movie had more action than probably all the the other 10 movies combined, and even though some hardcore fans are going to have their panties in a knot over some changes, it's at its base a great standalone Star Trek film.

This is just what this franchise needed....

I wonder if the food replicator aboard the Enterprise serves

"Dammit, computer, I don't want a salad and a bottle of Evian water! I want a hot and nutritious donair! Dammit, I'm filing a complaint with Starfleet's Food Services Department!!"
So much for that suicide we were promised and looking forward to

I can identify all of those ships, guess I am a Trekkie too.
I'm having trouble with 3 and 8 (although I THINK 8 is Grissom from ST 3.) 3 totally baffles me.

I'm still waiting for some hardcore to point out you can't see Vulcan from Delta Vega :p
