Here is an example of some guy that just don't get it

Every opinion in this thread (except for you know who) have pointed to the FACT that for a lot of artists these days, they make their money by going on tour. When this person's opinion is challenged and worst - proven wrong, he plays the victim card and also become the aggressor simultaneously. And that my friends is pathetic in a grade 2 kind of way.

Dude, what you said might have been correct in the 80's or earlier. Since we are in the 21st century now, you might want to join the rest of civilization.

wilde, don't you know that we are all incorrect. The only knowledgeble person here is you know who. As I said before, he is a living legend on all matter of great or little importance.

Sometimes when I am bored I play games. Just for fun, I reviewed the last 20 threads in the lounge. Mr. you know who has offered his brilliant insight to about 14 of them. I guess he doesn't know everything, otherwise it would have been 20 for 20.

I can hardly wait for his brilliant response. Of course, he might just throw me a curve and remain silent.

41 out of your last 43 posts have been all about flaming, insulting and calling people idiots. I have no problem debating points with people. As you can see in my last several posts, when someone offers himself as an authority on a subject, I ask questions to gain better understanding, whereas you don't even engage in the subject. You seek out allies, then flame away.

Purr is guilty of the same, but at least he has involved himself in other topics on this board and engages in the topic of conversation.

Wilde is guilty of the flaming versus debating in this thread, but at least it is in this thread. He doesn't waste his time following me from thread to thread looking for the opportunity to strike.

Honestly you two, it's getting kind of creepy.

You guys do realize that artists don't make any money from going on tour, don't you?
Madonna does. She signed a lucrative deal with Live Nation a couple years ago.

Used to be that touring was just to support albums, but that's shifted dramatically in the last few years.

I'm finding that out as I'm going along here. I also just read an article in which David Bowie predicted this like 15 years ago. I really wonder how this is going to play out in the emerging age of, "One hit wonders". Will people pay big dollars to see bands that they have only heard one song from?

Funny, just read the autobiographies for Slash, Anthony Kiedis and Motley Crue and they all said the opposite. Think I'll stick with their opinions over yours if you don't mind
That's the old school model. Used to be that was the case. Not anymore.

Now promotion firms like Live Nation pay acts like Madonna, say, $30 million to do a tour, or some set sum plus points. They manage the tour, she performs.

(Madonna actually signed a 10 year $110 million deal with LN last year: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/21324512/#storyContinued)

If I recall, Police made (cleared?) $100 million on their last tour.

From the Wall Street Journal, Feb 6 2007:
In 2005, a reunion tour by '80s metal band Motley Crue took the industry by surprise and became the No. 11 grossing tour of the year, taking in close to $40 million in 22 cities, according Pollstar, which tracks concert-industry data. A three-night stand by the blues rock band Cream at Madison Square Garden was the fourth-highest-grossing show the same year, taking in $10.6 million; it also helped to further propel the reunion phenomenon. A spokeswoman for Cream frontman Eric Clapton says the trio has no plans for further concert or recording activity...
The Pixies tour, which continued through 2005, is an object lesson in the lucrative economics of reunions. The Pixies tour grossed an average $180,000 a show, according Pollstar. The band played bigger venues, to bigger audiences, than it ever did during its original career as influential alternative-rock pioneers in the late 1980s. By contrast, in the same period a solo tour by Pixies leader Frank Black took in just an average of $8,800 a show.

I think the music industry is quickly learning to not bank on anything as stable or sure-thing.

I have one final question for you, do you still stand by the above statement?

This is a direct request to the Moderator to review Trackstar's postings, everywhere. Long before Silky was banned, trackstar should have been.

It's one thing to poke fun, it's another to operate from the attitude and methods he does. He is a detriment to all of the users of this board.

I suspect a majority would agree, this place would be far better off without him.
