I've been hit by the telemarketers for Telus TV.
Has anyone had any experience with it?
How is the reception? Does it slow down your internet?

Or does it plain suck?
Any info would be helpful
Thanks

Really? Wasn't it you that just wrote this in another thread?

I have Telus Pay and Talk. My pre paid package is better then their post paid rates Rogers, I could care less for IMHO

I guess I am the crazy bat that likes my Telus pre paid

...but for me it does the job (the phone package I have)

WORST SERVICE EVER!!!!! Had it for two years. would freeze every couple of weeks because it was "resetting" during primetime? WTF???? It doesn't slow down the internet but it's just junk. If you can, I'd say splurge and get Starchoice or ExpressVu. But as far as cable go, stay with Shaw, far more reliable.

Yes that is the feeling I am getting(staying with Shaw) the savings just aren't big enough to go for the hassle of the switch and I am not that big of a TV head that I need more channels.
That they say I get with Telus.

having grown tired of the constant rate increases with shaw, and their we don't care, we don't advise you of changes because you don't have a contract - i took my business to Telus TV.
Bundled with internet and phone I am saving about 30 bucks a month for the same channels.
Positives:
Convenience of 1 bill
The quality is fine with HD available depending on channel.
There has not been a noticable impact on internet service.
Negatives:
Yes does seem to pause or freeze, but not usually for any amount of time and not any more frequently than I noticed with a friends Expressvu.
There is no capacity for picture in picture to watch 2 channels at the same time - though TV plus a DVD on 2nd input does work.
No football package.

I guess it depends on your preference. I personally thought Shaw sucked for customer service and am more than happy to no longer have to deal with them. Thats not to say Telus is the world's leader in customer service, just in my experience better than Shaw.

My friend has it. He says it is cheaper and better than Shaw / Rogers. At least for the most part! Who knows?

I loooked at the Shaw bundle price and it comes out better than the Telus one. Does the Shaw high speed work well for the basic stuff or do you need the extreme? Or would that be over kill?

Last year about this time I fell for the marketing - big mistake. Install done and then reality sets in:
- unlike cable where all the channels are in the cable attached to your TV, the Telus box only gets ONE channel at a time as the switching is done at the exchange rather than in the TV
- thus not possible to time-shift (watch one show while recording another)
- the remote was totally confusing in its operation

Upshot - after 3 weeks told Telus to take it out, sent back the box and controller - they tried to ding a cancellation fee but when i threatened to pull home phone, cell phones and internet that fee quickly vanished.

Back to Shaw basic and never happier - life is simple and plenty to watch there without going for the specialty channels

sushi

PS - I'll leave out the hassle about the $400 charge cuz the box wasn't sent back IMMEDIATELY - got that cleared but took some time.

Holy crap!!!! I didn't even think about the recording aspect. I think I will just leave things as they are, until it is time to change and get the bundle price from Shaw.

I'm sure that will be fun when I phone Telus to cancel my internet and phone and then follow up with my cell phone in a couple of months:D

I am with you, I have had it for over 2 years and signed up just as it was launched

The freezing was a problem in early Jan-March I called, complained, they upgraded my box and I really haven't had any problems since.

I have had Star Choice, would NEVER pay Shaw prices and for the package I have for $ 45.00 bundled, I need and more.

All about preferences and the fact that I don't record I guess comes into play but overall I am more than happy with mine and about $30 richer a month in comparison to the same package with shaw.
