I think that most of the pooners (and SPs) have health concerns especially newbies like me. However when I mention my health risk concerns to SPs they seem to stop responding to my PMs.

SPs accept the risk as part of their business. Pooners accept the risk as part of their enjoyment. We are all in a higher risk zone. However I think that most of us do not have an understanding of what is a magnitude of risk of getting STD from an SP or if it varies from SP to SP. Some may think that the risk is 99% some may think that the risk is 0%. SPs do not seem to advertise their health practices. So I decided to post a poll that I am hoping will give us a better understanding of the risk. I hope this is not a totally stupid idea.

Hmmm. I think my option is not there. I am a pooner and I have never had a STD and I only get checked every 2 years maybe. But I do not poon alot maybe once every 2 or 3 months. I never do any bareback, or go to shady MPs or SPs like I used to years ago, so I feel rather safe.

The idea is good, but the options you posted don't seem realistic to me.
They read almost like it's either monthly testing, or one doesn't care. I would think that most people test several times a year (i.e. every 2,3, 4 or 6 months would be the most likely frequencies), depending on how active they are - and that they most certainly don't see anybody if they have anything. Such options, however, are missing because you seem to assume it's the same as testing "from time to time" and indicates negligence.

Also, as a side note, people who voted for "I am a pooner and I only see SPs that I consider safe so there is no risk and I do not go for tests" would scare the hell out of me. So many STDs can be asymptomatic that you never know unless you get tested regularly. Low risk is still risk... This is completely irresponsible.

"wether i poon or not" :D I'd like to know when the "not" happens. Seems like you are out every other day.

Anyways, you do make a good point, the only reason I do not get checked more frequently is due to the fact that I do not frequent more than 4 times a year in general. Maybe I should be heading in a little more often than once every year or 2.

I can't vote in this for some reason (it says "you may not vote in this poll) but I wanted to give you info. The STD clinic suggests to test every 3 months because that is essentially how far back a test shows (although sometimes things like HIV can take longer to show) so if you are testing every 3 months you are continually checking. Remember that there are incubation times and so someone testing negative today does not mean they are without stds today, it essentially means that 3 months ago they probably did not have anything and that if they do have something now it has not created enough of itself to show on a test. I do monthly testing because I am neurotic, previously I tested every year even when I was with a monogamous partner for 5 years. I've done lots of volunteer with the AIDS network and if I ever were to end up with a life-threatening or permanent std I would have to deal with that...but I would never forgive myself if I passed it onto a loved one or a one-night-stand just because I didn't get tested when the tests are there and available for free.

true, some STD's like HIV can take up to 6months to show, others are a little less.. in the end I can't see how a free test once a month can hurt any better safe the Sorry thats for sure:)

The most likely way for an sp to get an std is from a pooner. They don't spontaneously appear in sps, they have to be given to one from somebody. You say you tell your concerns to sps via pms, which sounds like the only sps you contact are ones who are board members.
So, considering that they are high profile, std-educated, and have access to the Health section, it is no wonder that they don't reply to your pms. It almost doesn't matter what sort of "risky" behaviour the sp may or may not practise in her sessions (like bbbjs, or CIM, for example), if YOU don't participate in any of that (do cbj and no kissing, for example) then YOU aren't exposing yourself.
It is possible that dwelling upon this "risk" via pms to sps on perb, is offensive to them. You should assume that they are taking all necessary precautions to ensure their own health. It is up to YOU to take necessary precautions, educate yourself (go to the Health section and READ), and choose safe options when pooning.

I shouldn't have to add that: You can't tell just by looking if someone has an std or not. As mentioned, some people have them, pass them, and never know it. The poll questions are flawed unless the pollster has a specific agenda to prove sps are careless and pass on stds frequently because they don't get tested weekly. That or they should refrain from appts until results are known, then get tested immediately after each and every appt, refrain until results are known, etc etc etc
Or, go live in a bubble.

What scares me ..

Are the 7 votes that say they only see safe sps and have never been tested.
i sure as hell hope that is not true. Now if the girls the see get tested regularly and tell them that they are OK ,then ... . But who does that ?

Good point.

Dumbest question ever: You're clean, right?

What do you think anybody (sp or pooner) is going to give you for an answer??

Besides, even if they honestly just got tested and have the papers to prove it, that only says they were clean 3-6 months ago so really it means nothing but it is important for each person to take care of themselves and be responsible.

I agree with Thais... except that it should read "most people who test"
What concerns me is the number of people (on both sides of the industry) that have never been tested... I'll bet it's the majority and I'll bet most of them won't participate in this poll.
