Agreed, the casual encounters section is laughable. I find it hard to believe that anyone on there is anywhere close to whom they proport to be. 
The erotic section isn't much better although I'm lucky and do generate an awful lot of business through there but then again... I'm no WOT

Now's not the time to be judging those that work the industry that advertise on CL.
Admittedly, I once felt that was the place for desperate, cheap SPs because it's free. But then again I'm one of the cheapest or disgraceful depending on who you ask SPs here in Vancouver.
But as long as you, the SP, make mention of how and what kind of clients you want to attract, you will get it. Posting your rates and pics is a start.

There is a lots of BS on Craigslist but I have experienced good success there . I just try to ingore the obvious SPAM and I laugh at all the petty bullshit. There is always someone who resorts to childish behaviour or someone preaching their self-important agenda.

Funny, I've had some decent success on CL's casual encounters section. Of course, most are obvious fakes. If you follow the rules listed by the "researcher" you can find some legitimate finds.
Found one really nice girl through there. Beautiful girl...wow, still thinking about her in my bedroom....
Met another couple that ended up being a bit larger than I prefer.
Now seeing another girl I met on there. Figure skater, nice find there too
It really depends on how you respond to a lot of the ads on there. Respond with a decent, personalized response, send a good picture and, if it's real, they'll respond.
I usually send an "head cut off" picture from an email address that I expect spam at. That cuts out a lot of the hassle.
