saying he wished that he could have won it in Edmonton and that this is bittersweet...
wonder how many Oiler fans will start forgiving him for leaving....
I hope Oiler fans turn the page on Pronger. If he left town because his wife was unhappy, ok... but what kind of wife puts her husband in that position where he'll be vilified by a whole city? Yeah, Edmonton's not Los Angeles or New York, but neither are the other 15 or so tier-three cities in the NHL. For $6 million a year, Lauren the princess should have sucked it up.
The real bitterness about him is really that he is too good. We've had lots of guys leave here before, but no one of his calibre and not under those circumstances. I think this past season has shown what a difference he makes; the Oilers team that missed the playoffs was more or less the same team minus Chris Pronger, and the Ducks team that won the Cup was more or less the same team the Oilers beat out last year plus Chris Pronger. I think he's the best defenceman in the world, because his game is more complete than Lidstrom, Neidermayer, Chara, or pretty much anyone else you can name.
Anyway, time for Oiler fans to move on. Nothing to see here....
