There are just as many scientific arguments disproving climate change as there are promoting it. Unfortunately with the amount of online censorship from our governments today, most only hear the propaganda.
It's not about censorship but collusion and/or the media regurgitating misinformation/propaganda systematically fed to them.

Ya, no kidding a fan does nothing in the heat. All it does is circulate hot air. I don't need a study to reveal that. All you have to do is stand in front of it lol

Same mentality is an ice cube will melt when put into hot or warm water

It's very common: https://www.timescolonist.com/homes...ws-to-permit-air-conditioning-systems-4690376. One strata owner was fined more than $11K.

The last few years, perhaps 2024 might be the exception, the heat dome period has lengthened. Then there's the wildfire smoke which can last for months and is now the new normal. Meanwhile, the government sends out warnings about the heat. Today I received n emergency alert when I was in Surrey for the heat.

The thing is, some people who have A/C lack empathy and can't imagine what's it like to endure the heat without without A/C.

We also have evidence that fan's don't really do shit when it comes to heat. https://www.newsweek.com/fans-dont-help-heatwaves-1887395

I've had my ac set at 17 degrees since May.... No one's complaining for me, since I've been back in the scene now less then a week.
I love living in the arctic. 🧊🧊🧊😏

Confirmation bias and selective memories are at play here as well. Both sides appear to be involved.

I recall 50 years ago when we never experienced prolonged heatwaves like we do now, nor did we have as many heat-related deaths. However, comparing temperatures alone is akin to equating a car crash at 100 km/h today with one a century ago. While the speed may be similar, most would prefer to be in a modern car equipped with airbags and seat belts rather than a Ford Model T.

But when 40°C becomes the norm instead of the exception, that’s when we have a problem. And guess what? We’re there. Welcome to the new normal.

Interestingly, despite the clear evidence (reminds me of covid), there are still those who choose to ignore the problem. It’s like standing on the deck of the Titanic and arguing that the iceberg isn’t that big. But the ship is still sinking.

Landlords and stratas in older condos argue that A/C units strain their outdated electrical systems or detract from the building's appearance. If it's just a wiring issue, they could invest in rewiring the building, which is tax-deductible. But it's not. Many are simply drunk on control and power.

From what I've seen in this thread, it's folks with the same mindset (like local government, landlords, and stratas) who don't see the need for air conditioners. They say, "just use a god-damn fan". Similarly, some providers think the same way too.

When has 40 deg. become the norm? We might hit 40+ once or twice a year, and only in select areas. Has been like that for as long as I can remember. (also in weather records)

Interestingly, despite the clear evidence

What evidence? Are you referring to the fear mongering news?

I recall 50 years ago when we never experienced prolonged heatwaves like we do now,

Define prolonged? We are only a week and a bit into summer temperatures (it was only a few weeks ago, people complained about unseasonable cold) and you make it sound like it's been months already.

nor did we have as many heat-related deaths.

There are a couple unspoken metrics in the amount of heat related deaths now, compared to years ago.

The average BMI of people today compared to say 50 years ago has increased 20 to 30%, Overweight people suffer more from heat than those who have a healthy body mass.
Plus the percentage of the elderly population has increased as well, they also suffer more from the heat.

All I am saying is, there is way too much "sky is falling" panic, and believing everything the news tells you to believe.

I left the interior --- which was my home for 2 decades --- to the lower mainland over 25 years ago. When I was growing up in the interior. I recall quite Vividly we had summers where the temperatures hit 40 degrees. 40 degrees wasn't unusual for us. If you doubt that then you've never lived there.

Yeah, when you ignore all of the science. 🙄

He took the time to respond to your statements directly, with logic and clarifying questions. This is how civilized humans learn from each other, resolve difference, and sometimes change minds. You respond with a snide comment and emoji that provides no counter argument whatsoever.

By the way, if you are going to use "science" as a counterargument for anything you should know that the difference between a heat wave and a heat dome is not pedantry, but actual science.
