I've encountered people like this, and always wonder why they think it's all right to litter, and get upset when they're called on it.

Is there some belief-system out there I'm unaware of that thinks living amongst the waste we generate is normal?

For a belief-system, I'd start from a financial and monatary system that is designed to collapse without growth in the economy.

Today's society...no one can ever admit they are in the wrong and everyone thinks they are a tough guy...that loser was pathetic...who the hell threatens an old lady like that?

And why would you be intolerant for tolerating intolerance? Seems like an absurd point.
Didn't say that. I said only intolerant people would say that. Not the same thing.

Tolerance suggests treating people equally. Only an intolerant person would make the paradoxical demand for equal respect for intolerance.

If your point was a remark about the person making the comment and their belief system, trying to dodge out of the ad hominem attack is hardly worth invoking logical fallacy.

Tolerance suggests treating people equally. Only an intolerant person would make the paradoxical demand for equal respect for intolerance.
You have a very broad definition of "tolerance".

Tolerance does not mean acceptance or respect. Tolerance is inaction.

You can't kill him. You can't punch him. You can't reason with him. You tolerate his idiocy and move on with your life, unless you want to be a vigilante and end up in jail for killing him.

Tolerating intolerance is a part of life. This is a frustrating moron and there's nothing you can do about it.

The man is very stupid, why would you post that online; it only made him look more like the asshole he was. His racist comments and lack of respect for other people is shown. If he wants to teach his daughter properly, he must first start with his own actions, like not littering. He said his littering had nothing to do with his conversation with the older lady... Its what started it.... the guy is clueless or stupid. I'll pick stupid....

Calm down. It wasn't ad hominem. I didn't think you were speaking personally. And that wasn't what you originally said in either case.

I was commenting on what Clementine (and others) like to call the Paradox of Tolerance.

Derivative of that notion: A tolerant person would not voluntarily call for the tolerance of intolerance. So only an intolerant person would.

Paradox of tolerance is the reverse. You have to be intolerant of intolerance lest you want intolerance to overrun society. I disagree to this.

You are still equating tolerance to acceptance. Tolerating people means putting up with intolerant people.

Intolerance in the name of tolerance is a corruption of morals and ethics. People who champion for it are pathetic. That's what modern liberals do and why they champion for things like white guilt and white privilege.

Yes. Exactly the point I was trying to make when you wrote

You must tolerate intolerance to be considered tolerant.
Do you not see how these two things are contradictory?

You are still equating tolerance to acceptance.
Nope. Didn't say that either.

Anyway. Bored now. Hope this last message clarified the misunderstanding

It does not.

I don't like people who make snyde remarks and try to get away with it.

You specifically said tolerance means treating people equally. You also use words like "respect" which in the context of your language means you define tolerance as purposeful inclusive or exclusive action.

If you're so tolerant per your definition, the moron in the video posted his address on Twitter. Feel free to show up chez lui and show him your tolerance while I sit at home and intolerate him.

Look left. Way left.
It's best to at least show a person that you are unhappy with their actions. Even looking toward them shaking your head will show your displeasure with them.
In my experience, there are those that can only learn through some form of punishment for their actions. One may be forced in extreme times to give some people an attitude adjustment!
Not that difficult if you use your head doing it.
It's surprising how many bad people seem to have accidents.

You can't assume people to be rational. There are plenty of assholes like this guy who might have a gun, especially in the states.

No point trying to uphold some moral standard and lose your life over it.
