Any one been charged on new laws yet

Any one know if any stings out there.
I don't believe so... but I've consistently being saying that VPD are very familiar with the sex trade, know where the problems are and are NOT interested in doing stings or changing enforcement to adapt to the new law... and I believe a statement to that effect was recently released by the VPD.

The cops aren't prohibitionist, puritanical or ideological... they know what's going on, have a clear channel of communication and outreach with the SPs in the city and aren't into advancing the political agenda of the pinheads that pushed for the "Nordic model" bullshit.

I imagine that closer to the federal election, the government will arrange for a few high-profile busts across the country to please their base.

That has to be the most stupid post I have EVER seen posted on PERB.The Federal Government has absolutely no control or say over what Municipal LEA's do with regards to policing and allmost no say with regard towards the RCMP which is Canada's National Police Force if they hard cart blanche as to directives for enforcement per any particular law it would effectively make the RCMP the equivilent of the Gestapo of the Nazi regime.

As for the new law I dont see it being actively enforced by any Municipal Police Force be it VPD/CPS/OPP or any others unless the situation is problematic. If it is out of sight/out of mind and not obvious and no complaints are continously given the the LEA's then I highly doubt they will expend more police hours towards it.The new law which will no doubt be stricken down is a "tempest in a teapot" and I seriously doubt allready overworked Municipal Police will resort to "stings".

Yup... though we have seen other actions by Adolph Harper and his gang that seemed to be slowly inching in that direction...

Remember Cretien and APEC and the RCMP and the UBC protest? Plenty of political control of the police force there.

I agree with SR. Officers also have all kinds of political views.

I'm not concerned at all pooning in Vancouver. The only issue would be an incall where its obvious the girl is making a huge nuisance for her neighbours. But I just wont go back again, if I feel this way.

This reminds me of the bicycle helmet law. No sooner had the government announced it the police said they wouldn't be enforcing it.

Last night (Sunday) I went to Oscars Pub.......good beer, great waitress...really, really bad fish and chips. When I left, nothing happening at Diamond, New Sandalwood had a mountie parked out front, so I figured let's take a look....headed up Hastings, found another one parked outside Butterfly. Don't that too often, was/is, it subtle enforcement or was it a coincidence?

Glad I could do it and by the by a blatantly stupid statement such as yours truly deserves a whack upside the head with a blunt rebuttal

I would be of the opinion that it was a matter of a slow night for actual police work so the LE you saw were looking to "cherry pick" the proverbial low hanging fruit...kind of like setting up a speed trap in a playground zone...yeah they may not get a bunch but they will get a couple of stupid ones ;)
