After swept by the Sharks, the season is over for Canucks. What is your prediction for Canucks next year?

Im glad the season is over and reduces the agony. Arent a majority of their core is under contract? My gut says they'll change very little and keep things the same. Who can they replace the twins with?

Predictions? Vigneault will be gone. Maybe Gillis too.

Good thing I took Marleau, Couture and Pavelski in my playoff pool. When it comes to money, one cannot be ruled by emotion. ;)

Vigneault will be gone. We should hire Ruff. I'm hoping we can keep Luongo and trade Schinder, but it won't happen, since Luongo put his condo for sale.

I think the window for us winning a cup has closed, we keep the same guys but they keep getting older and we need to develop our young guys. I think we should trade away Raymond and Kassen and focus on drafting better guys the next few years

Gillis, Ballard, Luongo, Raymond and a few other high paid low performers should go first.

Coach V can only do so much with the tools in the box. Gillis has done jack shit since he arrived. IMHO Nonis was a better GM compared to Gillis.

Not even surprised. Can't follow the 'nucks without getting sick to the stomach. Forgetting hockey for the foreseeable future.

I'm pretty sure AV will be fired. And they should trade either Luongo or Schneider as soon as the Stanley Cup is over. They can't have the same mess going on for another full season. But at this point I don't know who they should trade. Luongo is the way more proven goalie. But his contract is a lot bigger and he's 7 years older. Should be another interesting off-season in Canucksland.

AV and his coaching staff are toast. I like AV but his time is up...he clearly the best coach the Canucks have ever had. He seems very likeable as a person and I am sure he will get another coaching gig very soon.

Gillis will not be fired. GM's get multiple chances before being fired... The scummy Canucks owners will let Gillis hire a new coaching staff.

As for the players, there isn't much Gillis can do since the salary cap is coming down 10 million next year, and most of the roster is locked into long-term no trade deals.

Luongo will be gone. Although, the Canucks will probably have to eat some of his salary and get virtually nothing in return. WAY TO GO GILLIS!
Raymond won't be resigned. He will probably get 1.5 million with a crapppy organization like the Flames or Jets.
Ballard will probably be given another chance with a new coaching staff.
The Canucks will probably pick up a Raffi Torres in the off-season and another 2 gritty 3 or 4 liners.

That is it folks...that is your 2013-14 Canucks! Excited...? I didn't think so...:pound:

SJ was looking like a good matchup. They are not exactly the most physical out there. What a dud!

SJ did outplay us but I guess when you have so many non calls by the zebras then its a shoe in to win it. Look at the number of trips, X checks, interference non calls and I knew they were done. Watch any other series and the Refs let them play.

its pretty simple really. the owners need to decide if they want a regular season winning team, or a post season winning team

so far they've chosen the former

if they decide to change their style then they need to instruct management to review each player's performance in the post season and make changes based on that. if that's the case, then we will see the basic makeup of the team change drastically, and a bunch of fast, tough canadian boys who have the vision of the stanley cup firmly imprinted on their brains will replace them

if they decide to keep their current style, then nothing will change

btw, i see from itb's list that burrows is underpaid and free to go, i wonder what he will decide to do?

i watched the eastern teams' games before the canuck's game came on... what a difference in the speed of the game!! wow, those guys WANT that cup!

Over anything else, they need cap space for next season. Then management (new or otherwise) needs to decide if they are going to blow the team up or go with a minor rebuild. The cupboard in the farm is pretty bare and maybe it's time to finally admit that the Sedins are not built for the playoffs, at least not how the playoffs games are currently being refereed. Cut the diving, whining and regain the respect from the zebras.

100% agree.
I'm not a Canucks fan but here's how I see it.
How many years does this make it that the Sedins have totally disappeareed in the playoffs? Even when they made it to the finals against Boston that was because of Lou, Kesler, Burrows and a bunch of role players like Higgins, etc (who BTW also sucked this time around).
Gillis alreaady screwed himself by mismanaging the Luongo situation to where he can't get rid of him without having to eat atleast 1/2 the contract. He should trade the Sedins while they still have some market value if it is not too late. In totays NHL if a GM is going to fork out over $6 MIL/year he wants a player that can not only get him to the playoffs but can helt the team go deep.

The problem all teams face is the fact that the rules change during the playoffs. Canadian fans demand a fast slick playing style to entertain them during the season and when the way the play is called in the post season changes, the teams with the grinders are allowed to interfere to their hearts content. Boston takes it to the the extreme. the Refs can only make so many calls before they come under criticism for "not letting the boys play". The Stanley cup series two years ago was an organized mugging and the goon tactics continue against Toronto (not that they don't deserve it). Boston management has figured out how to use the system and tailored their team to do so. Last year, LA adopted many of the Boston's tactics to achieve their success. NHL management needs to figure what kind of product they want to put on the ice, or create two leagues (Skaters and Ice Derby).

Are you delusional? The canucks are the dirtiest most hated team in the NHL.What killed them was the amount of penalties they took. The Sedins were a no show of course as they only good for cheap shots and pretty goals on the power play for the most part.No chance of them providing some grit to a playoff drive.

Canucks swept in 4 was happy news this morning.Got to make sure I call my brother tonight and taunt him over it LOL.

Hahaha. No Shit. I'm sure Bieksa's "This isn’t my opinion. The evidence is in the video..." rant really touched the ref's hearts. What fucking irony that the Canucks are whining about diving.

Gosh! I can't figure out why everyone hates you guys! Especially the refs! Why oh why aren't the calls going your way? I mean, the refs shouldn't influence the outcome of the game, but assholes like Bieksa don't do the club any favours. Hasn't for years, and the result is predictable. Here's an idea to get the refs to stop "picking on you": Quite being so fucking dirty, and quite whining about it when you get pinched. It will be years before the Canucks shake off their reputation...
