It's so much fun to watch him playing golf. Even though he has been struggling for a while, he tied the Jack's record today. That shot on the 16th hole was simply amazing. From there, he was the old Tiger again!

I'm all for Tiger reaching the peak, but we all know (most of all HE knows) he didn't tie the important record that really matters. I'm pulling for him though.

Tigers way over rated. He is extremely self centered and outside of being the best golfer on the planet ever, he has done absolutely nothing for the betterment of golf or anything else for that matter. Sorry just being great isn't enough!

Mickelson's the man. He has done more for the betterment of golf in 6 months than Tiger has done in his entire life.

I've never been a fan of the guy even before his wife, at the time, hit him over the head with the club. But the shot yesterday on 16 was incredible. He could've shot another 100 balls from the same spot and not gotten another one in the hole.

He'll be the favourite in the U.S. Open in a few weeks I'm sure. Especially seeing as Rory Mcllroy has struggled as of late.

I get a real kick out of the people who claim Tiger has contributed nothing to golf. How about the mass swell in popularity golf received due to Tiger. How about the simple fact the ratings for a tournament are much better if Tiger is involved. You're right Tiger has done nothing for golf....

Just to put it in perspective....read this little gem I copied below. People really wanna compare who is better? Not even close and I respect the hell out of what Jack did

At age 36, he is 10 years younger than Nicklaus when the Golden Bear won his 73rd tournament at the 1986 Masters.
That is true.

And even if Tiger doesn't break Jack's majors record of 18, which I don't think he will at this point, he'll still be the greatest golfer of all time. His record from when he joined the tour in 1996 until late 2009 is untouchable. It's just too bad he had to the play the "family man card" to get all those sponsors and then go out and cheat on his wife on several occasions. What a fraud.

Yup he was like plus 18 this weekend and missed the cut. I hate to say it but he's done. Great career though

The ratings this weekend were double what they were last year when Tiger didn't play the Memorial. Let's face it people, people watch when Tiger plays.
+18 after two rounds? Holy crap. It's hard to believe that it's been 9 years since he won The Masters.

No doubt the PGA Tour is all about Tiger Woods. Too bad he doesn't play the Canadian Open anymore. :(

This is exactly what I meant by my earlier post. When Tiger plays everyone benefits and golf goes crazy. Playing in a dozen tournaments a year just doesn't cut it. He should be playing in more tournaments to promote the game give more people a chance to see him. When Nicklaus was at the top of his game he was playing almost every week and its not like he needed the money.

Nobody would appreciate if the big stars in other sports only waited until the playoffs to suit up even though Crosby did it this year.

First you say he is "way overrated" but yet you want to see more of him? Tiger typically plays no less than 15 tournaments per year...not 12 as you mention. The PGA tour doesn't pay Tiger to be at these tournaments. It makes perfect sense to possibly lengthen one's career by playing in less events. He has done miles more for the game than all modern day golfers combined including FIGJAM.

Maybe he meant overexposed and not overrated. Because some tournaments of late that he's played in, he'll be well back in the field with absolutely no chance to win. But they will still show some of his shots. And you know they wouldn't do that for anyone else. There's even a Tiger Tracker on the internet. I'm surprised they don't mention how often he takes bathroom breaks during his round.

Phil (Fuck I'm Good Just Ask Me) Mickelson. What a nick name.

This. It's done in alot of other sports as well. As players get older their minutes/games get cut back in order to keep them more productive throughout their last few years. Currently Tim Duncan is a prime example of this, right now he's playing good ball and some of it has to do with having his minutes scaled back and getting a game off from time to time.

I agree. But they show who the TV viewers want to see. Even when they aren't in contention, the largest galleries follow Tiger, Phil, Fowler, etc. Those guys all still get TV coverage when they are not in contention but admittedly not to the same degree as Tiger. Maybe if Tiger didn't get so much TV coverage when his play sucked people wouldn't be offended by all the F bombs he drops when he hits a poor shot since they wouldn't even see him do it.

Uh huh. Never mind that he has more majors than the next dozen major winners combined.

I doubt that the PGA, nor CBS, nor NBC, nor the majority of its players, nor those in the golf course, equipment, or clothing industries would agree with you. At all.

What an ignorant statement.

That's another thing too. Tiger swears sometimes or throws his clubs when he hits a poor shot. And the announcers rarely call him on it because he's the great Tiger Woods. Where as you know they would if it was anyone else.

This is a common beef - and has no basis in fact.

Saw a couple incidents, as a matter of fact, this weekend - and no mention of anything from the announcers.
