Actions deserve consequences.

I'd be surprised if anyone is really surprised about any of the perpetrators being on sports teams. Group/herd dynamics in all-male sports are pretty notorious for some pretty dispicable stuff. It isn't usually the ones who get labeled "known to police" who show up to things like riots and car flipping. They aren't the types who want media attention, youtube and facebook photos to document their activities, save that for the arrogant sports "heroes".

Sorry.. but I disagree. Any little prick who thinks he can light a cop car on fire needs to be straightened out. He won't do any jail time.. our justice system is too lame for that but a little public censure is what some of these little bastards need.. they've been raised to laugh a the law and expect no consequences. Well now he can deal with a few consequences.

Ridiculous. No "decent kid" suddenly gets "caught up in the moment" and sets fire to a police car, period. This is a rich kid who has been coddled and given everything in life except strong parenting. His surgeon father should be on the hook for damages and he should lose his scholarship and receive the stiffest sentence for vandalism that the courts can dish out (fine, jail time, probation, community service). If there is no real consequence, there is no lesson.

they've got a nice federal penitentiary up in Prince George, the inside of which is pretty well owned by some very tough First Nations dudes. two years inside there would make a world of difference to his outlook on life - if he survived two years in there of course

Fuckin A....I will admit I did some stupid stuff as a teenager....but it was stupid harmless stuff......nothing like this....those were crocodile tears running down his face and his entire statement was written by a lawyer for maximum spin.....he is the son of a surgeon and is a priveledged POS who had everything given to him on a silver platter his whole life and he should pay the price for his actions.

actually this guy was trying to protect the truck from the punks trying to light it on fire. there's a video out showing him at the passenger door trying to back people off. someone throws a lit rag in which he takes out. then the guy in the pic getting decked did something to him hence the decking. right after this pic all the scrawny little pussys jump the guy.

Totally agree... little spoiled brat is taking a lot of flak and out come the tears. His lawyer did a court order so he could read a statement? What bollocks.. he was outed by his fellow citizens.. not the justice system or the media. And his fellow citizens are the ones judging him. And make no mistake this little prick won't serve one day in jail. Fucking punk.
