Just wondering if this is considered safe to pour sweet liquids such as honey or pancake syrup down the urethra? I saw this as a practice in a men's magazine & am curious....

It really depends on what you mean by pour down the urethra.
I have not heard of sweet liquids being a problem when coming in contact with the tip of the male urethra. If you gently poured the liquid on the tip of your penis it would only make contact with the end of the urethra before flowing back out as the urethra is not a rigid hose.
On the other hand if you are thinking of forcing it down the urethra e.g. using a syringe, I don’t think that would be a good idea.
I have seen people at the clinic who put items down their urethra as part of sexual play. It can be called “urethral sounding” or “urethral play”. There are a number of risks when doing this such as infection or damage to the urethra and I would only recommend it to people who have experience/knowledge with doing this.
