Wills, Funerals, plots and the people left behind.
Something our society really ignores alot is death in our society. People should make out their wills. In my opinion they should also make their relatives aware of what that will entails. Less arguments when someone dies. Eventually everyone dies.... fact of life.... curious thingy this thing called life.....

When my Grandparents died, they had everything auctioned off and the proceeds were divided between the children. If you wanted a item, you bid for it. At the time I thought it was an unique idea which prevented the survivors from bickering amongst themselves for favoured treasures.
No matter what happens there will always people who raise a ruckus about shit. Sad but true. Also note if there is no will, I believe it becomes the property of the government to look after the estate of the deceased...

Also plan in advance the funeral arrangements and the "farewell ceremony". Less stress on the people left behind. Prepaid funeral plans are an idea. Just be aware the more the survivors want, and its not in the plan, it will cost you extra. Funny but when people buy funeral plans, the idea is that everything should be covered, but the longer time between buying and death, there is a rise in materials cost (inflation).

And then comes the tax implications that apply to the estate. People should be aware of what an executor can do in excising a will too (eg. administration fee).

Also there is the final resting place to consider. The plot of the whole death. Graves or a little urn for the deceased....

Preplan.

When it comes to divvying up my estate, which should be of a reasonable amount, my plan is to give away as much as prudent before I go. I enjoy donating money and resources to worthy causes and seeing the good uses it can be put towards. Most of the gifts I give to my nieces are in the form of charitable contributions in their name. They really appreciate it and I involve them in selecting the benefactor.

Soon you'll "own nothing and be happy". So at least you won't have to worry about how to distribute any assets to your loved ones.

Yeah, that's why I'm not voting liberal.
I've always joked... those with the most debt upon death, wins!

I’m having a problem doing my estate planning……does anyone around here have the room for plus or minus 400 cattle?

They say you can't take it with you. Bullroar. I am. I'm going to fill my coffin with Bordens. It makes me feel good thinking about it. I think the Egyptians had it right.

Pre paying for the coffin, plot or cremation and the celebration of life are things that are costly. This can easily run 20K + depending on how nicely you want to say good bye. If its prepaid the family won't be saddled with a big bill and hope they aren't cut out of the will - ouch.

I got mine for $300.00 about 20 years ago. Got a 2 for 1 special. I think I will be very happy there. except for the fact it is next door to my mother. Oh well. At least I am not living in her basement.

So far 100% of the tombs found have been robbed. 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
Didn't you see that Mexican drug cartel movie, where the cartel guys dug up the money wrapped in plastic. Rats/mice got at the money..... totally useless.

Slightly off topic….I had a confidential discussion with a well known SP many years ago how a generous client bequeathed his entire estate to her and left his wife/children with nothing. She felt bad for the widow, and decided to pay for the funeral costs to help her out. I’m guessing the SP is doing well financially, because shortly after she told me this, she retired. So yeah, estate planning can be a double edged sword…especially if you’re not in the will and get no inheritance.
Unfortuneately some people think wills should be challenged, especially if they are getting nothing. Just the way people are today I guess...

When I kick the bucket I want to be cremated. I don't give a shit what happens to the ashes after that.

They can flush them down the toilet for all I care.

Alternatively you could approach a certain rancher and request they be mixed in with a batch of feed.
After being processed by content bovines they will be scattered around a beautiful countryside to provide sustenance for growing vegetation.

I’m pretty sure that would fall under, and against …the BSE livestock management practice…
technically you can’t feed the remains or byproducts of another living organism to a bovine, and have it pass inspection to be consumed by a human being……even if that once living organism is Uncled, and is burned to a crisp.
The spongiform that is BSE cannot be killed, even at very high temperatures that turn almost anything to carbon.
Although there could be a loophole if Uncled supplied a certain rancher with his medical records, proving he didn’t pass away from Mad Cow Disease….in which case the possibility of livestock shitting out his remains across the mountainsides , could be a possibility if that would be his final wishes.

……..you people really do bring out the weird in me sometimes.

if someone drops the baton without any preparation, and there's no will, or family present, doesn't the city have some crematorium to dispose of the deceased?

I'd posted this in the random thread but really, it's better posted here.
