Looks like the site YMMV is no longer doing a complete list of all studios but only as a "community service" the ones that they consider the "best".

Too bad as this was a good resource for listing all the studios in town. Does anyone know of any other directories?

What a joke

Somehow a lot of great sites dont meet their standards......with that format they have become both useless and a joke!

What bullshit, the "best" are the ones the guy has a stake in as their webmaster.

We need a MP/SP website listing that isn't subject to the site owner's flaky whims or has his nuts in the grips of a studio owner.

This hasn't been updated in a year, but here's an alternative:

I actually agree with Jim. We are all free to setup our own websites.
I appreciate the service the YMMV provided before. Now it is useless to me. cest la vie.

Jim, said it best. Quit your belly aching. Spend your own money, register your own domain and make your own list. As for flaky whims all those other studios received free advertising for over a year. YMMV.CA helped them all. If I have favourite studios I can say so, it is my site.

My nuts are my own, and my whims paid for the site.

It wasn't really a case of bellyaching, just a general comment about how a once noted site of the industry has decided to sort of pull the plug in some aspects with only displaying very select buisnesses.

If there are other sites to research studios - and apparently there are - as others have posted, then thats good.

This place is about sharing of information - or thats the original concept, and having studio references to websites seems paramount to establishing the sharing of information.

Having a bad day or just missing TT

Kwitchyerbellyaching.

If you think there's a better way, register a URL, get a server and go to town.
Not sure why you think you need to take a poke at me for stating the obvious!
The guy had a great site and now it's shit. With all the great MP's not listed it makes even less sense.

You should re-read your post, you might see how thoughtless it is!

but has been little stress here since TT's been gone, could it be you need to start some??
I cant think of any other reason for commenting like that, unless it's your site!

This is a hoot LOL, my thoughtless comment on that site (considering some posters here). I sure hope I did not offend anyone. Following is part of the comment and I stand by it:

"Studios have changed a lot in the last five years, and not for the best. These listed studios are the ones which still maintain the quality to which more sophisticated and informed patrons will appreciate.

This does not apply to all studios, but many no longer provide the true relaxation experience, just hype, high prices, in your face advertising, etc. Becoming the fast food providers of the industry. "

Besides, I do this to the site whenever I am bored...;)

I meant Jim should re-read his post, not YMMV's post!

But while on the topic YMMV, I have loved your site for the last year, but now call it paid advertisers rather than a list of the best, because that it is not!

TMHO

PS: cant believe these MPs wouldnt give you a nickel for your previous site which was as good for them as it was us. I think you need to hire a good marketing guy!!

Again MHO

It's your site YMMV, and you can do what you want with it. However, if nobody goes to it, then what service are you providing your paid advertisers? I now have a site to access if I want to visit the sites of MPs that you recomend. I'm sorry, you might catch the odd newbie with that strategy, but anybody who's participated in this hobby for any amount of time is probably going to rely on the many other sources of intel that are available (perb for one). You've just taken away the only reason any of us would have to visit your site. It's a lot nicer to have the ymmv site on a browser rather than the many sites that are available to peruse.

With all the Edmonton parlours listed the YMMV site was a handy resource. Now the five or six remaining definitely limit its appeal and I think ironically does reduce the value to the paid advertisers.

Its like a food court or auto row the more vendors the more traffic.

You hit the nail on the head with this post Rafter.

Ymmv had the best site for this hobby, It listed everyone and all you had to do is choose which mp you cared to visit.

You food court has gone from having everything to just have chinese food. That great if you hungry for that, but I hope you never want anything else.

You have a very dangerous strategy YMMVguy. If someone does put up a site listing everyone, why would they need yours then?
In fact, if someone approached the other studios, that could be very lucrative indeed.

Scheming hat is on my head.

Believe me, I would do my own MP website list if I had any web development skills and didn't have a busy life outside of pooning.

And ymmvguy, just man up and admit that you're the webmaster of your chosen list. Or are you unable to man up because WRO's owner has your balls in a jar somewhere?

Anyway, if PERB hadn't banned the MP website sticky then we wouldn't even need to rely on a separate website.

Meantime, I'll just have to make do with bookmarking each and every link.

Hey YMMV, As an alternative suggestion how about having your preferred sites/customers as the first page when one clicks on the Massage Studios Link then have a "for the rest click here" link afterwards. That way you can still show your preferential studios and have a complete list available for all hobbiests.

Just a thought.

Correct if I am wrong please.

My knowledge of YMMV (which is limited) is that the Studios did not pay for the listing, but ads running for specific ladies, who work at the studios were paid for by the ladies themselves.

It makes sense to me to that if the studios want this exposure they need to consider it as a marketing option and put it in their budget.

I do not know if that is the reason the list has been shortened, but if it is , then it makes sense to me.

Many businesses pay good monthly fees for web based marketing. Ask what it costs to be on Yellow Page website or other business generating advertising campaigns.

My 2 cents

Well I didn't realize the drastic change in the list. However I still stand by my original comment.

We don't contribute a cent to YMMV.ca operating costs yet bitch when it's now to our liking?? Grow up!

We can all vote with our mice, nobody is forcing us to that site. Do you remember that at one point in time there was a thread that was a listing of MP URLs? It was removed for commercial reasons, which makes perfect sense.

There is no such thing as a free ride kids.

Get friendly with google is my suggestion ;)
