Vanilla Mastercards - Whats the Scam?

Chatting with a couple of people who participate in this most interesting of past times recently and they mentioned having abandoned communications with ladies who were asking for Vanilla Mastercards rather than cash.

I'm wondering what if any scam there is with these prepaid cards. I'm assuming the cards would be exchanged at the start of a booking much as cash would be.

Wondering peoples opinions or knowledge.

As long as the transaction takes place instead of cash, that is when the client meets the SP, I can't see any way it can be a scam. If anything the girl could be the one getting ripped off as the card could already have been used and she's left holding a useless piece of plastic. Unless she checks before getting the session started.

If it's in place of a deposit it's really no different than a gift card or e-transfer. The only difference I can see is a fee to purchase the card that isn't there for a regular gift card. SO it costs the client $5 or 10 more

not familiar with that card, but there are other prepaid gift cards scammers like. the scam is they send location, once you arrive, they ask for a pic of the card, before sending buzzer and room #, which they never provide. doubt these scammers are even in canada. their english is most times shaky. usually pretty easy to spot and avoid.

99 times out of 100, she wants the codes from the card before you meet. Once she's got them, she can obtain the value of the card and you never even got in the same room. Same goes for itunes cards, amazon etc. it's likely not even a she, and you might not even be in the same province or country. If you have the card in hand and give it to her, it could be legit, but for most folks, it's not worth the risk.

There is no legit reason to ask for the card instead of cash. None. I have tried a few times to get one from the lady who was demanding the card and it was all bullshit. After I played along, the request for the pic of the card came in.
