Vancouver info

I'm taking a short trip out to Vancouver next month and am trying to book my trip. Problem is I know nothing about the city and since I'm only going to be there for 3-4 nights I want to make the best of it.

Could anyone recommend a good hotel, something within walking distance to some nice restaurants and shopping. I'm looking for something reasonable in price, not cheap but not NYC type prices either.

I would also like to know if there is a favorite restaurant I should try. I'm a vegetarian so steak houses and seafood restaurants are not my first pick. I don't mind paying a lot for a good meal though so if it's really good and going to cost me the same as a night at a hotel I'm okay with that.

Basically I would love to know if anyone has a favorite or if there is a local hotel/restaurant guide that would help me out.

Thanks!!
Kyra :)

Thanks but I did that and didn't see any thread that gave any information on hotels near shopping districts and I was really hoping for either a recommedation of an area to look for a hotel or if someone has one they rave about perhaps letting me know why.
I don't need one for Hobbying and most threads seemed to be looking for discreet, I'm just wondering if there is a central one to vacation in.
I realize it's frustrating to answer the same questions over and over but perhaps one of the ladies might be able to suggest a hotel that is preffered. I know in Toronto I'm very familiar with hotels and there are some definite winners that I'd recommend. :)

I had some friends who stayed at the Westin Bayshore when they visited the city. It's right by Stanley Park, in downtown, and there are a lot of restaurants in the immediate area. It seemed like a really nice place.

Sorry, I don't know of any vegie places to eat; but I'm sure the concierges would be able to help you out if you stayed there.

Hope that helps.
