All I can say is they guy nailed it dead to rights and I for one am sick of the Canadian flag waving
BS propaganda from the big 3 cell providers claiming "unfair" when they just fear actual competition
as well as the possibility of losing their stranglehold that they have on the Canadian consumers they purport
to"save" from this venture by Verizon but at the same time they constantly fuck over systematically
whilst working in collusion with each other.
I was with Rogers for 5 years with a couple of Blackberries one of which was the first smartphone model
which was that big blue bastard(compared to more recent models) and I opted for a "free" phone upgrade
once for a Blackberry pearl only to find out that my contract got re-upped for another 3 years.Needless to say I was pissed off but also powerless. When the trackball went to shit on that phone and leading up to that happeneing everytime I dealt with Rogers customer service(a total oxy-moron) I got pestered and badgered
to get another "free phone upgrade" which got a firm FUCK OFF response from me.I had had enough of
being charged for data on weekends when I did not use any as I only use my phone for work. All told my
cell bill each month was at least $160+.
When my phone finally crapped out I visited a Wind mobile store and bought a phone for cash and signed up
for a very reasonably priced plan. The monthly bill was $70 for unlimited local and north america wide calling
and unlimited data with call display and voice mail.6 months later a new plan rolls out with the same services for only $40 a month and I am allowed to switch over to it with no problems or fees of any kind.
I have been with Wind for 4 years now and not once have I been dinged for a 911 fee/system access fee
nor any other of the BS fees that the big 3 charge(and those charges are the equivilent of an SP up-charging
for BBBJ)
If Verizon buys Wind mobile they also buy the existing network that has been built and while it is not as extensive as the big 3 it has pretty good coverage in Canada's major cities and is slowly expanding....wow just like the big 3 had to do over a long period of time. Will Verizon piggy-back on the big 3's infrastucture?yes it will just the same as Wind mobile does now and the rate of dropped calls and zero reception will be the same as the big 3 have done as much as they can to stifle Wind as they were not allowed to buy it like Telus bought out Clearnet way back in 1998/1999.You remember Clearnet and Mike right?2 small start ups that actually got some traction in the Canadian market with the same business plan as Wind which was to
establish coverage for major cities and build up from there. They did not get the chance though as Telus just swallowed them up and very quickly at that.Telus also got the rights to Clearnets advertising plan which
was the bright colors and cute animals.
If the big 3 could have steam rollered Wind and Mobilicity shortly after they launched when they saw the
damage they were doing they would have but the CRTC changed the rules so the big 3 launched the micro carries like Koodo/Chatr and Fido and ran those phones on the old 2G network as a means of subterfusion.
The big 3 are afraid of the actual competition they will face should Verizon enter the Canadian market and
THAT is good for Canadian consumers as we really are getting fucked over. With Verizon in the US if your plan gives you 2000 anytime minutes per month those unused minutes roll over.In Canada with all of the
big 3 any unused minutes just vanish.
Fuck the big 3 just as much as they have been fucking over their customers with their colluded monopoly
for the last 25 years.
