For me, best sandwich ever.
Was on a junket in the US Southwest years back, a group of us hit an old time restaurant with a history. Used to be a church, then a brothel, a saloon and so on and for the most part the bones of the building were the same as in the 1800's. Hot day too as I recall so the beer was welcome. But the sandwich. My mouth waters thinking of it. Oversized bread, each slice about an inch thick, a green chili mayo with tiny flecks of jalapeno in it, ham and sharp cheese all grilled to perfection. Best taste sensation at the time and one I just wish I could duplicate.

Thinking back to early 80's ... anyone remember Phat Phil's in Richmond? True Montreal deli - smoked meat sandwich you could barely get your mouth around and the pickle!!!

Look up the Sandwich Nazi in Surrey. He makes the best sandwiches at his deli. He closes soon, but worth going before he shuts down.
