SP's don't have the right to MARKET themselves on my cell phone!

Just because a client is required by (most) service providers to confirm a booking by phone does NOT mean that the SP has the right to market their services by text to that cell phone number!

I visited a SP who is an advertiser on this site. I'll keep her name off this posting because I don't want her backlash. Her site says that discretion is 100% assured, and discretion is important to me, as it is to most no doubt. I booked by email but was required to make the final confirmation by cell phone. I get that.

Then, 2 weeks later I get a @$%^% text from her, sent to all her clients presumably, outlining in not-so-subtle terms her daily special and rates! She calls that DISCREET??????

Fuck, a SP does NOT have the right to market her services directly to the client unless it's agreed. Simple!

[I contacted her immediately and asked her never to contact me again. I was planning on repeating, but after that, never again.]

That's completely unacceptable. What if your SO had come across that text? Jesus. If it's a client who requests regular updates, I can understand. But this is just inconsiderate. Maybe a slip-up on her part, but a mistake that could cause a lot of grief to a lotta pooners out there.

Vivalasvegas, you are absolutely right. In this business, discretion is of the utmost importance. When a SP says "discretion assured", that should mean "you contact me for services, I do not contact you." Indeed, she could have caused you a lot of grief.

And WreckBeach, this can't be a slip-up. In order for him to receive those offers from her, she had to set up her phone/e-mail account to specifically send the offers to her contact list. This can't just happen out of the blue.

Its also a little arrogant of any sp to think that sending text announcements to anyone who's seen her is going to result in bookings. Maybe those guys who called her up, saw her once, don't actually ever want to see her again. I can see sending emails, because you can control when and where you read them, but texting is NO different from making phone calls. Anyone who thinks there is anything discrete about texting is nuts. This is just one example of why.

I am not sure why not report who it was, it might teach them a lesson on appropriate marketing. If sps are "reviewed" for no shows or canceling short notice, why not for doing this? It would serve as a warning to anyone contemplating contacting them, to make sure she knows to keep them off her auto-text contact list. If you are warned, you can take steps to avoid this kind of thing.

On a semi-related note, getting a call back can be problematic. On two occasions this year I called escorts I had not seen before and was sent to voice mail where I left a message saying "I had hoped to speak with you but you are busy/away from your phone and I will try again some other day." (That is a lot different than saying my saying "Please call me if you get this message within the hour.") Yet, on those two occasions I was called back some time later, even though I had not asked for a call back or even hinted that one would be okay.

At the complete other end of the scale are escorts who I have seen a lot and who keep my number in their phones and who alert me via text within an hour or two of an appointment if they are at their incall early or will be a little late. Those ladies are golden.

I always appreciate it when Vanesssa texts me to let me know if she will be early or late. Lovely, sweet, considerate and so much more :)

I think that is totally unacceptable. I would also like to know the lady so I could cross off my list. This is why I pay good money for discretion. Thanks for the threa but please give me a name.

With a SpeakOut SIM card, you have the official go-ahead to get acquainted with the phone of your choice. You know, the one that make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside? Just slide your SIM into any unlocked GSM handset or a SpeakOut phone. Then go for it: talk, text, browse, stroke... It doesn’t matter what you do — or more importantly — what phone you do it with. That’s up to you.

I once had an SP text me out of the blue that she was 'back in town' - I let her have it with both barrels. Sheesh.

Seems to me we had an incident of an SP texting a pooner that blew up pretty badly for all involved not long ago. Anyone remember JPR? Why any professional SP would opt to do this is beyond me. Please do let the rest of the guys know who it is so that she can be avoided. Next thing we will hear is that she got a call from a clients wife and her heart hurts.......

I agree....saying one of the advertisers on here is showing a complete lack of discretion, but not saying who????

Not being aware of the need for discretion is quite an issue, which could seriously upset another person's life. Least of all things though, it would be just plain annoying to receive texts like that! Like we need more telemarketers??

Happened to me earlier, got a text from a micro that I only visited one time about a certain popular SP who returned. I visited that micro over six months ago and I wonder how many pooners' phone numbers they have kept, I guess drumming up business trumps discretion...

Thats brutal, totally unacceptable. But sadly doesn't surprise me at all. When I started in this world I met and worked around a couple girls (long been gone from Victoria) who I saw would get very frustrated if it had gotten to 11-12noon in the day and they hadn't had any calls, they'd sit there and go through their contact list and start texting away. I remember being shocked and couldn't believe how desperate, unattractive and forward that was, But I was too new to share my opinions at the time. It speaks so much about someones character to think that's ok. :(

Just because a lady is an SP does not necessarily mean she is very smart, nor that she has any common sense.

IHMO the OP should contact her and explain things to her, or at least have her read this thread. That might be the fairest way to handle it for her.

That would be much kinder to her than outing her on PERB.

Like some male members on here, there are also some clueless SP's.

That's a good idea. I would only say that unless the sp herself speaks up, the re is a stigma is on all the advertisers unless it gets cleared up. Of course, that's the trouble with a generalized thread, one that is a good topic but also includes specific information.

I got a PM from the SP, I guess she recognized herself in the post.
She is well aware of this post.
Hopefully she understands how serious her "mistake" was.

The last time Telus made a customer service faux pas, they offered me free airtime........no airtime offered here.

To the OP....Vivalasvegas. If you ..........DO NOT..... want to address the girl on the board.....why not private message us who are interested in knowing who she is?? I'd like to know this SP is myself.

Otherwise, many on here might think of this thread as ' suspicious" and nothing more than a " conversation made up topic.
Don't wait for me to PM you, if you want to know something privately, PM me. If you think I'm going to comb through this thread and start PM-ing people I don't know to call out an SP you're dreaming.
