The story isn't true

IF, the supposed Dylan Pattyn wasn't lying about being a Time reporter or had used a real Time reporter's name, maybe it wouldn't be so easy to discard the idea presented.

Here is a search for Dylan Pattyn on Time.com
http://www.time.com/time/searchresu...btnSearch.x=27&btnSearch.y=9&btnSearch=Search

Not one story by Dylan Pattyn, not even one mention of both the words Dylan & Pattyn in an article on Time.com

This is what No Mutants Allowed has to say:
http://www.nma-fallout.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=502223&sid=e334c0cded3f47de720a5e399641efbf

In these days of really good search engines, it's really easy to find out if something is true, or not. To not run a search on the supposed author means that a person is choosing to be lied to, it means that they are too dumb to have a healthy skepticism on improbable reports.

There is no separate "Internet 2". It was a catchy phrase for the SAME Internet somebody came up with based on the theory as to how the Internet would evolve if the telco's were allowed to charge whatever they want, whenever they want, and were ever actually allowed to control Internet use.

They have to get approval for any increase or for any major changes from both the FTC in the U.S. and the CRTC in Canada. That's the body that keeps saying no to the more outrageous requests everytime they want to charge more for your phone service, internet service, tv and cable service, etc, or when they suddenly want to do "this" or "that" new outrageous money making scheme.

Rest easy!

By the way, one of the major ISP players in the states actually tried to slow down data from third party movie downloads on their network because they wanted the web provider to pay them extra for it. The FTC stopped it quickly and really slammed the ISP.

Telus was never owned by Verizon it use to be AGT until the Alberta government took it public.

The problem with their theory is EVERY ISP would have to comply. If some did and others didn't, you would just see those that blocked sites lose customers. Besides, nobody, not even corporations want this and Google has made sure that even the 3g network bandwidths will be more open.
