Weasel boy is down! Karl Rove, where are you motherf*cker?

Man, life is too good sometimes and there's nothing like seeing some justice about to be meted out. Too bad the American people are so asleep that they'll probably not even bother to ask: Now why would he lie about that or even go through so much trouble to identify Valerie Plame and then leak the info to 3 reporters. Surely it was for Scooter's own benefit and no one else's - u-huh, right.

If that b*tch, Judith Miller hadn't stuck up for him it would have been at this point a year ago and maybe we wouldn't have Bush at all...

Now if I could only see Bush will go down in bigger flames than Nixon did! Burn baby burn!

God bless Patrick Fitzgerald. It's heartening to see someone with ethics and a strong working knowlege of jurisprudence. He'd make a helluva good Supreme court justice. Do ya think that the Shrub might nominate him? Why the hell can't we have people like this in the Executive branch instead of just he Judicial?

- I'm off to go and gloat now.

I think anyone over the age of three who allows himself to be called "Scooter" should be put in jail just on general principle.

In a nice wet pussy!
Which goes to prove...

Anyone, even the White House team, who plays hardball with the Intelligence community, sooner or later will get beaned.

There is so much acrimony between the CIA and the Administration, we probably will see more departures.

This internal war goes back to GHW. Stay tuned!

Scott, you can celebrate the corruption of our government if you wish, however you will excuse me if I do not share your glee.

You need to go back a long way before you can find a White House that was not hit with corruption and a total lack of integrity.

When it happens the fruits and nuts of California or the red necks of the south come out and celebrate as if a disgrace of their political enemies is a victory for them.

I remember well the cheering of the radical right when Clinton was impeached. He was not impeached for the BJ or Travelgate or Whitewater. None of the original charges that were levied against him were ever proven. He was charged with lying to the feds.

Martha Stewart same story. She was investigated for insider trading. They could not prove it so they charged her with lying to the feds.

Scooter and I am sure many others like Rove, were under investigation for leaking a CIA operative. They were not able to prove a crime was committed so they have charged Scooter with lying to the feds.

Sorry Scott, I do not share your joy that our government is crumbling. I do not share your joy that a Republican lied to the feds. I did not share the joy with the red necks when Clinton was impeached for a bogus charge.

Scott do you see a pattern here? Do you think changing the ruling party will solve the serious lack of morals displayed by our politicians?

I have thought for a number of years that the American empire was in decline and this is further proof.

It is not too late, but it will require the 60% of Americans to wake up and take our country back. The 60% who do not agree with people like you who have extreme views of the right or the left.

There is a hard core 40%, evenly split between the left and the right, who are willing to circumvent the constitution, ignore the rule of law, and engage in immoral and unethical behavior to gain power. Their biggest victories are not when they advance their beliefs. Their biggest victories and their greatest celebrations occur when they are able to get the someone on the other side. In some twisted way they see the decay of America as their opportunity to regain power.

So Scott, my friend, you have your day. Celebrate the continued corruption of our government. I am sure somehow you actually believe today was a victory for your side.

Perhaps Lucky you did not read the beginning of the post? It's a celebration of the fact that he got caught and perhaps they'll get closer to nailing the REAL president - Cheney. I am celebrating the rare fact that justice may actually occur here in my corrupt country.

Yeah, I want to see Bush impeached (or worse). I would not shed a tear of sorrow if Air Force One went down except for the others on board. Bush is flat out EVIL as far as I am concerned. Not to get rid of Republicans but as possible salvation for my beloved country and the principles that she was founded under.

2000+ American lives (and how many British and Iraqi) because of a LIE. THis is a step closer to proving hat they lied (as if the smarter ones in this country didn't already know.) and intentionally slanted intelligence (okay, LIED). That last link talks about how Cheney and Libby made notes on Powell's famous U.N. speech. Wilson came out and said that what Bush said about the Uranium from Africa was a absolutely false. To punish him they exposed his wife as a CIA operative. That's just f*cking arrogant and a betrayal of an American and that deserves punishment.

Libby acted like a rabid poodle trying to sniff out the leak and then went to great lengths to expose it. He even called Miller when she was appearing before the grand jury to make sure she did her part (and she did) so that Bush would get re-elected.

This is just one of the multitude of crimes conducted by this administration. It is without a doubt the most arrogant and corrupt admin. ever to run our country at least with anyone else, we'd probably not have to endure the sheer arrogance presented by these guys (and we might have a president that has mastered his native language and was not a bunt out coke head alcoholic).

Absolutely not LD. It matters not which party is holding office - someone else's agend is being run no matter who is in office. It's the cockyness of someone who doesn't even have a clear victory in an election to try to bullshit the people that bugs me. I just heard some woman on the radio the other day talking about how her (now dead) son was over there in Iraq fighting for "OUR" freedom!!! This is a view held my at least 60% of americans. How brainwashed can you be? It's our own fault that we've lost our Government (and our country) and I do not revel in that at all.

Plus, I am proud of Fitzgerald and the job he did.

LD,

The American political system has a deep festering cancer. It is downright sick. We do not celebrate corruption in our beloved America. It has the face of a democracy, but it ends there.

Justice is the only thing left in America that remains the preserve of its ideals (Freedom, Liberty, Civil Rights, Democracy, Equality). Even Justice has been compromised by this Administration through such things as the Patriot Act.

Now Justice is working as it should to punish the corruptors, the evil doers, the profiteers. We celebrate that Scooter Libby has been indicted. Now we hope that more of these, who we have suspected of doing evil to America, will be brought to stand in front of the people as well.

In my opinion, Judith Miller is as evil as these people. Using her so-called journalistic principle of "Protecting your source", she shielded an evil doer from the Justice that is the American people's right. She corrupted a principle under freedom of speech (that journalistic principle of protecting one's source) to serve her own profits. May she roast in hell in America's prison.

I take your wish that AF1 crashes as further proof of my claim that the fanatical left and right are alive and well in America.

Libby did not get "caught” that is the problem. The crime he is charged with was lying to the feds.

Neither he, nor anyone else was charged with the original crime, "outing a covert CIA agent". I think there were two flaws: 1 at the time he reveled the agent's name it was not a crime and 2 she was not covert. If they had even a small amount of proof he committed the crime they would have charged him. Obviously they did not.

I am still sad that a high ranking government official lied to a grand jury and it was right for Bush to ask for his resignation. If others are charged others will go.

Excellent points

I totally agree with you CaliScott. I was one of the foolish ones in my youth always telling my fellow Canadians how great America is and how great it would be to live there. Well like they say "be careful what you wish for, it might just come true" I now live in the States and I wish I could come back and live in Canada.

This George Bush is a cancer to the country. I am so glad that there was justice done. Libby is just the tip of he iceberg. Hopefully this will lead to more questions on why we mislead into this illegal war anyways.

On a different subject also concerning the radical right wing. You folk in BC have no idea how lucky you are when it concerns pooning. The FEDS have raided and shut down almost all of good massage parlours here in the Bay Area. I heard Bush has also set up a task force on Porn. I am not sure how ready the USA especially red states are for a woman as president, but I would gladly take Hillary over this Moron.

Right wing spin and bullshit.
This is the first time in 130 years that a White House staffer has been indicted while in office.
This is not business as usual.

Stop getting your "information" from Limbaugh and Drudge, and try to inform yourself properly.
Your political views are based on extreme right wing disinformation, and you seem to like it that way.

I think that he's the most f*ucked up president that we have ever had here. I think that the longer he (and Cheney) stay in office the more civil rights we will lose. Every president that started a second term on a year ending in "0" has not completed the term (Reagan was the only exception but they ALMOST killed him in his second term). I am simply hoping that the "curse" holds out. These shits are pure evil, period.

It has nothing to do with left or right. I am niether, I am just a red blooded Patriot who believes in the founding principals of our country that are being continually undermined (with this amdin. in particular). I hated Clinton as well but at least all he did to screw us was eliminate our military power and sell our military technology out to the Chinese. I am not fanatical at all. I just get pissed as hell everytime I hear about kids getting killed in Iraq and I have an anger towards that stupid moron that I have not held for any other political figure. Yes, I think that if he dies it would be a wonderful reprieve for the world and a backwards step for the NWO.

Yeah, tell me about it brother. I am hoping though that it will make a few more Americans realize what the rest of the world knows - Iraq was and is a HUGE lie.

Yes, it was a crime to name a covert agent - it falls under the espionage act.
Yes, she was a covert agent to my understanding and not merely an employee. The main point is that they did this to "pinish" Ambassador Wilson (her husband) for saying that the bit about Hussein trying to get Uranium from Africa being total BS.

The problem is that they would have to prove that he knew that she was a covert agent adn not merely an employee of the agency. The crimes that he was charged with are serious though and hopefully will direct our notoriously short attention spans towards the actual lie.

i hate to rain on your collective parades but there is one item missing in his public conviction and that is he still hasnt been found guilty of anything. He still gets to have his day in court.

Back in reagans day there was a guy by the name of ray donovan who was accussed of racketeering and corruption, a special prosecutor was appointed, he was indicted, and on his way to his public conviction, and being thourghly trashed in the papers, he was aquitted on all chaarges, and the one thing he said that stuck in my mind was he said where do i go to get my reputation back. so much for public convictions. He was reagans labor secretary.

Cali Scott I know that your knowledge and understanding of what is really going on in the world is limited by what you read from whom, to expand your knowledge try reading the senate select commitee on intelligences report on the lead up to war with iraq and if in your mind that is to bias because you think the repucblicans have more members on it than democrats, then try read the i.g.s report of the same subject. He came down so hard on the c.i.a. that the i.g wanted to start proceedings to strip the top leadership of their security clearance. The c.i.a.s intelligence failure was so massive.

Just an observation on my part the intelligence was so bad on wmds in iraq so where did valery plame work at. jeez the wmd desk on iraq. ummmmm interesting.

To be honest I could not have told you who Libby was 1 month ago.

I view lying to the Grand jury as a serious crime and he was asked to resign.

This covert operative drove to Langley everyday in her own vehicle.

If Libby committed the crime, why was he not charged?

According to Fitzgerald it was because the prosecution would have had to prove that Libby KNEW that she WAS an operative and that there would be an addition burden of intent (the latter is what I get from his baseball analogy at least.). They never got to the bottom of that investigation because of Libby lying. Of course, that is why they have him now.

I submit that, while they did not charge him under the espionage act, the testimony of the reporters that came out subsequently shows that he was spreading the fact to the media thereby PUNISHING Wilson and Plame; that much is obvious. Now WHY exactly he wanted to cause the damage is what the prosecution would have had to prove and that is sticky. I suspect that this is why he hasn't charged Karl Rove (yet?).

The thing that makes this such a great revelation (No matter what he is charged / convicted on) is that it PROVES that the administration was trying to get Wilson for speaking the facts about the Uranium and then, against the case for war (at least, if you go right for the only obvious reason. Wilson was a valued foreign service employee and had many years of good service to the State Dept.). Now WHY would they (Libby/Cheney) want this exposure? Witnesses in the grand jury said that they were trying to find out where this leak came from, this is documented fact. He spread it around even calling reporters several times each. Do you consider it a reasonable possibility that Libby was acting alone in this?

I don't know where you heard that she drove into work everyday! Fitzgerald said that NOBODY knew, not her friends, her college roommates, etc. He spoke of the damage done. Fitzgerald certainly doesn't seem to be the sort to be spouting hyperbole. If she drove into work everyday, I think that it would have been obvious and become common knowledge. She went with her husband to Africa - long drive! :) The fact that she was an operative has been pretty well known for a couple of years now.

Legally, it would never have been a problem if Valerie Plame merely worked for the CIA in some other capacity. There would have been no big brou ha-ha over the disclosure in the media and especially, no special prosecutor doing a two year investigation in the first place. There would also be no negative effect of the disclosure and Wilson wouldn't have been pissed (or damaged), right?

I do not want to be defending Libby, he lied to the Grand Jury and he has to go. It is that simple.

But as far as outing a CIA operative, there is no legal problem. No one was charged after 2 years of investigation.

What does worry me is a pattern that is forming. Everyone knows something illegal happened, with Martha, with Clinton, with Libby, and with Rove. The problem is it can not be proven beyond a reasonable doubt to a jury. So the next step is to find another charge.

The pattern seems to be to question them until they are caught in a lie and then prosecute them for the lie, even though the original charge can not be proven.

To me that is wrong. Lying under oath is wrong as well, but to accept this approach to justice means you have to accept that the end justifies the means.

If you support this theory and you are consistent in how you apply justice then you would have to support impeaching Clinton for lying under oath. We know Clinton did something wrong. They investigated him for 4 years. No one would spend that much time investigating him if he had not committed a crime. The only problem is the original crime could not be proven.

Does that sound like a fascist or a communist government to you? It certainly does to me.

I think the WH was trying to get Wilson. Wilson was a political enemy. But to say this proves it, is wrong. This only proves Libby lied.

You need to go back a long way before you can find a White House that was not hit with corruption and a total lack of integrity.
I think you need to look at what stemmed from that corruption.

Bush? The death of 2000+ Americans and uncounted iraqi/afghanistan civilians, the prison scandal, broken Geneva Conventions etc

Death, destruction, mayhem, huge deficit. Open reconstruction contracts to Halliburton for hurricane katrina, out right gave the Iraqi reconstruction to Halliburton (at least some contracts there)... etc

Clinton? Let a secretary blow him... massive embaressment for the white house due to media attention, had to sleep on the couch for a while until Hilary calmed down.

Good economy, low unemployment, strong dollar, strong military (Clintons budget allowed for the large military Bush is expending).... but he made the headlines as the unfaithful president.

Some difference in the level of scandals, eh?

Nixon...meh... his corruption doesn't seem quite so bad compared to Bushes, even though it was peppered across the nation.

Does that sound like a fascist or a communist government to you? It certainly does to me.
Know what also sounds like a fascist government? One that dictates what independant media channels may report on. Fair and unbiased reporting?
