IMO, there is STD risk with intercourse with any woman who is not a virgin. Obviously, SPs have many more sexual partners than most non-SPs.
Other than not participating, one minimizes the risk by always doing everything covered.

wear it properly, dispose of it properly, wash everything
with soap and water afterwards and that is as safe as you
can be, but it won't protect you against everything all the time.
