Not sure if you are that well acquainted with travel in Asia.
Recommend you be on your guard 24/7. Here we have pretty good legal system to protect us, there it is more like the wild west. While they do claim to have rule of law. Life is cheap in asia and injury, robbery, you have to use your wits to stay out of trouble.
Would be better if you started off going to places a local recommended or better yet you went with. Have to have street smarts there and probably Asian version of street smarts.
Girls accompanying you back to your hotel have been known to drug and rob clients. Worse is if they are working for organized crime or pimps who come in and rob you. They will take your money and your credit cards. Worse yet your passport as well.
Lots of young girls, lots of fun and lots of people prepared to do almost anything to get your money. Recommend you use your common sense and if it looks fishy get yourself out of there.
Keep a back up re-copy of your passport on a webmail account you can access. This will allow you to apply for a replacement without having ot leave the country i.e. at a Canadian embassy, keep some money availability as back up. (atm card separate from you wallet perhaps)
If you are seasoned traveler over there, please forgive the recommendations.
Just trying to help.
