Thankfully the judge set things right, and gave Pickton the same sentence he would have gotten had he been properly convicted of 1st degree murder.

However, don't forget the "faint hope clause," which makes him eligible for parole in 16 years when he will be 73 years old.

Hopefully the subsequent trials of the remaining 20 missing women will add to that sentence so that he will never see the light of day again.

If there is any justice in this world some of the "boys" in the joint will deal with this piece of garbage and we won't have to hear about him ever again:mad:

According to one article I read, Willy is ineligible for the "faint hope" clause as a serial killer so he really won't get to apply til he's 83. Let's face it: if any parole board was foolish enough to let him out before he dies there'll be rioting in the streets.

The faint hope clause is only an option if you only killed ONE person.

The media didn't do their legal homework. Now they're confusing everyone about the laws.

If you kill 2, 3, 4, and so on, you can't be considered for this.

Wannabeslut is correct, Faint Hope clause is for those who've killed a couple of people and actually show remorse - not serial killers. No one needs to worry, he'll be spending the rest of his life in prison, they don't give parole to guys like him. Also, there is no 2 for 1 credit on murder charges... if you do 5 years pre-trial you only get credit for 5 years.

I hope Pickton has to do all his time at Kent or back East, but unfortunately he'll probably do his minimum 7 years in Super Max and then work his way down to Minimum Club Fed.

Unlikely, since he'll be in protective custody, like Paul Bernardo.
(Not saying he doesn't deserve it, but Canada's prison system goes out of it's way to protect the worst criminals from "rough justice".)
