NHL Expansion?

Why is there talk about NHL Expansion to Vegas or Seattle? Should it be just moving a dead franchise like Phoenix or Florida in those areas instead? The league is already watered down…….

The play for Seattle apparently needs an arena first...and then there's getting an NBA franchise back there as well.

If Bettman had his way, there wouldn't be any Canadian teams. They would all be based in the Southern US. He hates Canada. I do find it quite amazing that I can fly to Phoenix, watch two games, and come back for less than doing it up here.

A friend lives in Phoenix. He can't get them to put Coyotes on the TV at his local sports bar. Nobody except Canadians is interested.

You can't sell a small market Canadian team on ESPN in a bar in Florida, Nashville or any non traditional hockey market.

You gotta remember Roller Derby and Nascar outsell NHL on any broadcast in the USA no matter where in the USA. Bettman still thinks he can sell Freezers to the Inuit but real hockey fans know a hell of a lot more than that guy.

Gary is is search of that 1 US fan that's never seen the game but will fall in love with it if they're just given the opportunity. So far it's been a colossal failure in some markets. Gary will never admit that though. 1994 to 2014. Bad TV deal after bad TV deal. 3 crippling player's strikes / owner's lockouts. Bad decisions daily, weekly, monthly and yearly.

Uh huh. And what has overall revenue growth in the last 10 years been? Seems to me the people who are paying the freight (the owners) are pretty happy with Bettman. And by bad TV deals I assume you are talking US and not the Rogers deal.

Gretzky? What a success he was in Phoenix. What has he done since he quit playing other than begat a world class slut who turned Dustin Johnson onto coke?
