Time for gravitas to take some Ex-Lax and let it all hang out. Building an atomic bomb is no great feat and everybody knows it. Shit, the kid next door could build an atomic device if he had the right ingredients.

All this crap is just sabre-rattling and is meant to work up the constipated population into some benign action to change the strategic situation an inch here or there, not meant to be the workings of a war or the threat of it.

Frankly I could give a flying fuck as to why the sawed off cock gobbler joined the nuclear club. Fact remains that lil' kim, like most despots, is more than happy to take western foreign aid in the form of money, health care, education (christ, sounds like someone familiar) but not wanting to play along with UN resolutions and are generally nothing but trouble.

Why is it that humanitarian aid comes with no strings attached? Presumably one of the reasons the west continues to provide aid is to assist some of these shithole countries to become, at least in part, self sufficient. If we continue to pick up the tab then maybe its about high time to exercise a little more muscle in turning this trend around.

I don't think the US nor Canada give much in humanitarian aid to N.Korea, if at all. Remember, we are still technically at war with them. There was no end declared to the Korean war.

Even if we did provide humanitarian aid, it's a freaking drop in the bucket for us. It takes like $10 USD to feed a kid in places like Africa, S.E.Asia and probably N.Korea for a month.... and that's through one of those expensive NGO aid agencies.

The sabre-rattling ain't likely about aid (cuz it ain't much anyhow), it's more about increasing trade between S.Korea and N.Korea and bolstering the current regime. After all, that's basically why Iran does the same kind of sabre-rattling.

KJ and his cronies are nothing more than a criminal organization of drug dealers, kidnappers and extortionists operating under the guise of a government, and they've played the fuckin' trump card so many times now, I simply won't react to this event until I see some form of solid evidence that this test even actually took place.

if we give aid to china i'm sure north korea gets some canadian bucks as well. not to hijack but fucking sense does it make to give aid to china? a country with its own space program and defense up the yin yang? does canada have either of those two?

No GBM you have your facts wrong , war was never declared in korea. It was classified as a police action by the UN. So I guess the police action is still in force. It is still not clear if it was a nuculer test or not , it may have been a big bang to look like one to fool george

Perhaps the US should start retesting their nuclear arsenal.

The first test could be 100km above Ponyang. The next could be 95km and then in 5km increments. At that altitude there would be no blast effect, though you might need some serious sunblock if you were outside.

We could then start a pool on what altitude the little commie comes to his senses at.

My money would be on 95km. He might be a commie, but he isn't stupid.

North Korea and South Korea are still thechnically 'at war', the U.N. involvement was a 'police action'.

Wait a minute……you guys are jumping the gun…..

How do we know the intelligence about NK having nukes is good?
This is close to Nov elections, maybe the GOP has planted false information, in hopes of taking the spot light of Foley, Iraq, the US failing economy.

Even if it is true that NK has nukes, what does that have to do with the US?
-There is no oil in NK.
- They did not try to assassinate W’s daddy.
- Halliburton would not make a penny, (well maybe a little).
- NK has never attacked us

They maybe mistreating their citizens and they may even invade SK. But not everyone in the world wants or needs the type of government we have here in the west. Having NK and SK unified under Kim would not be that bad, well at least for me.

In fact I think we need to follow to the Democrats solution to any international situation and pull out of the DMZ now.

I want to wait until we have undeniable proof that he has nukes. If NK dropped nukes on SK that would be a good indicator, as long as he lobbed in more than 1. Just hitting them with one is not really proof he has a whole arsenal.

Well LD because the Chinese government is hopping mad over what the North Koreans did. According to press reports China described NK's action as "despicable."

Essentially NK bit the hand that feeds it, as China provides in escess of 70% of NK's fuel and food imports. If there is a country that can control the regime in NK, it is the Chinese government, of course "can" being the operative word. By exploding a nuke, giving China 20 minutes notice, NK slapped China across the face. It's not so much relations with the US that NK has hurt, it is their relations with China.

It is not so much threatening the US directly, although the current dipshit in the White House would mislead the US on that, but rather key US allies in the region. Specifically Japan and South Korea.

We a led to think that NK will be the first one to attack. We don't think of SK attacking first under the guise of a pre-emptive strike.

Or we could follow the lead of the Republicans into another unnecessary war that has no purpose.

Given what the Chinese have said, I think it's pretty clear NK did explode a nuke in an underground test.

Just some article I came across on the net.

U.S. Aid Helps N. Korea Build Nukes, Congress Told
By Lawrence Morahan
CNS Staff Writer
17 April, 2000

North Korea's nuclear production capacity will increase from a dozen nuclear bombs a year to 65 a year by 2010, thanks in large part to American taxpayer money, two renowned U.S. nuclear scientists told congressional leaders last week.

North Korea observers have long suspected the communist dictatorship is using Western humanitarian aid to starving North Koreans to feed Kim Jong Il's million-man army.

But an aid policy initiated by the Clinton administration in the mid-1990s to finance two light water nuclear reactors in North Korea puts the isolated communist country on the fast track in the manufacture of nuclear weapons, William R. Graham and Victor Gilinsky told members of the House Policy Committee.

North Korea's missile proliferation has accelerated dramatically since the Clinton-Gore administration began giving aid to the regime in 1994
