Have you considered Cable?
I put up with Telus' ADSL for three years and pretended my problems with it were less worse than what Cable users were going through with their bandwidth issues. They were, but Cable improved over time and surpassed Telus' service; so I switched. It was superior at first, but lately has been acting up. Maybe their bandwidth is getting crowded in my neighbourhood - could be their way to steer you towards their Extreme package. The connection never goes down mind you, but it slows down at times. Consider how seldomly your Cable TV connection goes down, and you'll have an idea about Cable's reliability; when your TV works, so does the Internet. Certainly better than what I went through with Telus though, with downtime sometimes lasting two days or longer. Some neighbours nearby are on Telus and they tell me their connections still suck. I hear Bell has ADSL now, so I may take a look at that. But since they are not local, they may just be renting wire from Telus.
