honest question for the Mod's

Could we please have our own discussion area in the winnipeg forums... I was speaking with a friend of mine today...an sp as a matter of fact...she feels there is so much bashing,flaming and bs happening in our review section...not many reviews lately seems more bashing than reviews...I know the mods and admin are quite busy with this board but our own discussion area would be great...I realize there is a general discussion area...but it would be nice to have something local...thanks for lettin me get my .02 cdn in.

Another discussion area would not solve the issues of "much bashing, flaming and bs happening". We count on maturity to solve this.
Bashing and flaming is not acceptable in either the review or general areas.

The general discussion area is ONLY local in the sense that more contibutors appear from a specific region. Considering the amount of recently started threads there it would be quite simple for Winnipeg to dominate the section. One such thread that died two weeks ago and moved from the Winnipeg section is still enjoying action today. Go try it.

Why is it when someone makes a negative post that you remove it. Willow Coming to Brandon was removed because someone hurt her feelings ( that would be me ) But for the record the reason why I said what I did was that we have been told 4 times that she is coming to Brandon and always pulls out.

And if girls like Chantal and that can't handle some negative comments then get out of the business.

I don't know who said it on the board ....but I thought this was supposed to be about keeping things real and not fake.

If this site is about only showing the good times and not the bad times then pull the site down.

Have to agree with the Mod's on this one. (because they can kick my butt outta here, lol)

We just have to keep reminding Winnipeg user's to check/use the general discussion area as much as possible. (we are allowed to help the mod's)

Maybe we could plan an evening where we could get 20-30 Winnipegers together and gather in the general discussion area and kick those Alberta butts outta here.

Your post wasn't a review ... but implied Willow was unreliable and couldn't be counted on. This isn't true and could have a negative impact on her business.

She did cancel a couple of trips to Brandon ... two by my count ... but with lots of notice and only after repeated postings asking for the Brandon men to book. They didn't, and you didn't ... so i don't see what your point is except to slander someone. If you're not a client of an SP, you can't very well review them or make any comments about the quality of their service or reliability.

IMHO the Mods were right.

I have seen willow many times and must say she was always accomadating,punctual,professional and very classy...as sweet as pie...I may be out of place to say this but I see you are based in portage...maybe you should come east instead of going west to Brandon...just my .02 cdn

I seen the post,probably for the best it got deleted,it is true though that negative comments, no matter how true ,are not tolerated on PERB.I don't see the reasoning behind it,people want an honset opinion,not a great review on everybody.Also these guys get flamed everytime(the negative reviews)WTF?Everyone has the right to their own opinion,there's too many brownnosers on here as it is! This should be a forum for reviews,(i'm not defending newguy as that post was not a review).I have never seen Willow before,but I've also never read a bad review on her.BTW,Brandon is a hole anyway,i'd stay the hell away from there too!(this probably should be in GD,heh,WTF)

I've always wondered why the General Discussion area is necassary at all. As far as I can tell, the range of topics covered here is pretty much the same as that in The Lounge. The Lounge contains 13 or 14 times as many posts as this section.

Most of the topics here are not related to the Prairies only; they're of general interest. I think we'd be better off to move all the posts here into The Lounge and eliminate this area altogether.

There's nothing wrong with negative posts, as long as they're based on personal experience and aren't just gratuitous personal attacks on other board members.

The problem with some of newguyonthebloc's posts was that he persisted in attacking another member's credibility, even after she posted a perfectly logocal explanation for the cancellations.

As for PERB becoming a paid board, I wouldn't worry about it too much. Both TERB and MERB are still free. AFAIK, they're paid for by advertising revenue. The level of moderation varies, however. TERB's moderation is way tighter than PERB's, and especially MERB's.

It's been my experience that negative reviews are indeed permitted - but only if they concern a non-posting, non-contributing sp.

Reviews regarding posting/contributing sps will be rife with glowing accolades and finish up with L/A/S/ all in the 8's or 9's. It's good that the contributors being reviewed and receiving 9's actually have pics posted somewhere so that you can see how seriously to take the rest of the review.
