I travel to Vancouver once or twice per month and often stay at the Opus as I like the 15 minute walk to my meetings and like the assortment of restaurants around Yaletown. Unfortunately they are undergoing changes with their 100 days and its noisy and the bar attracts a very young clientele. Does anyone have any suggestion of a fun place to stay? I have stayed at Le Soleil but find it fairly boring at night. Thanks

Shangri-La or save a few bucks (and spend it on a hooker ;)) and stay at Moda, the wine bar is lovely. Loden is nice too. And if you've got lots of dough, The Keefer.

Thanks VV one day I plan to take the plunge. Any recommendations on a hooker! Kidding aside the Loden has come up a couple of times now so I will try it next time. I wont save on money but then life is too short to settle!

Go for L'Hermitage, closer to Yaletown and Granville. If you were bored at L'Soleil then Loden won't keep you awake. Nice hotel, but in a "remote" location as far as entertainment is concerned.

I am heading to Van city in late January and have been offered the Fairmont, Pan Pacific, Listel or l'hermitage to stay in.

Which is the best for location and entertainment purposes. Got to get to the conference center and the Westin that week a lot so close to them is good.

Appreciate your comments.

There are two Westins in Vancouver downtown: Westin Bayshore and Westin Grand. Which one?

Three Fairmonts ????

Conference Centre is in the Pan Pacific, Fairmont Waterfront is right across the street, Fairmont Pacific is across from the new Conference Centre. Take your pick. All three are about a five minute cab ride or 10 to 15 minute walk from the Bayshore.

The Fairmonts are amazing for a large chain. I book into the Pacific Rim for some weekends so I can party downtown and not have to worry about driving etc.

Fairmont Pacific Rim, Waterfront and Airport are the three I know of here in Vancouver. Nothing better than staying at the airport before an early flight to the USA and beating the rush before getting to the airport.

Opus in Vancouver is definitely a fun place. However, the Opus in Montreal is even more fun as compared to the one in Yaletown especially with its KOKO Resto and Bar. The terrace is awesome. Good property in that lovely city to play. The noise in the evening makes it more fun like a plush Hard Rock. :) :)
