In the last couple of years there has been major flooding in parts of Canada.

I think that if they are going to rebuild, building in those areas that have flooded, they should re-engineer and build on stilts, with deep pylons in the ground to give a firm foundation for new buildings. Major roads that were flooded out should be redesigned and built higher to provide quick access/escape to areas that were inaccessible.

For houses the 1st story could be car parking/bbq/play area. 2nd floor (if flooding did not get there) could be the start of the living area. The stilts could be concrete reinforce pillars, not wood. Concrete reinforced headers to build the 2nd story on. Probably wouldn't hurt to have a concrete floor on the 2nd level or the 3rd level. This way although the house looks silly on stilts people won't lose every thing unless the ground underneath them gives away.

If any of you played StarCraft, the humans developments were able to detach and move to other places, with out having to build completely new.

As I near retirement age, thinking of selling house and just have a trailer, travel from one place to another. It would be even nice in a large city to have a mobile home parcade. A parcade where you can park your trailer with water and sewer and electrical services.

Parking what that up to now. 3.00/hr X 8 hour/day x 30 days in a month =720.00 Could be cheap rent depending on how many space and levels a trailer parkcade could have for trailers... wonder if it would be economical in a big city. Drawback- people don't know how to park or backup trailers. yup slightly off my topic....
